Well, PFD's are out and I think I am gonna spend mine on a new laptop.
I hate having to be at home to be online.

Not to mention my work heavily depends on having a sometimes mobile workstation and I am also taking online classes (this would enable me to study/work anywhere).

I'm hoping some people here can give me some pointers,
I have a really nice desktop (Intel quadcore 2.4ghz,2gRam, nvidia geforce 8600 gts 512mb) so I want a similiar 'powerhouse' of a laptop (I can't stand slow shit).

Where should I start shopping? I've got a few I am poking at but I'd like to see what others have to say. I've have never purchased a laptop and know relatively little about them. I'm willing to throw down some serious dough, seeing as its free and all.

I'm also thinking compact but sturdy, I don't like the idea of having a 17 inch laptop -- I'd prefer something along the lines of 14-15. Being 'rugged' is essential, living where I live, it's just something that's well.... nice to have. Some sort of gfx processor and adequate ram is also key, as I like to play a lot intensive (mostly RTS) games.

And please, don't suggest a Mac. It's not what I am looking for.
