|  Virus/Adware problem My computer is infected. Everything is running so slowly that I can't even run my anti-virus software. Any suggestions? Edit: I'm posting from my girlfriend's laptop, if you were wondering. |

| Try booting into safe mode and running your AV program If you don't know how to get into safe mode, while the computer is restarting press F8 or F5 depending on the computer, it's usually F8 though. |

| Well we ran some anti-spyware scans and infection scans or whatever and it came up with a whole bunch. We removed them, then I did a complete scan over night. It found more. They were removed and my pc is still redirecting me to other sites. My friend is coming over the weekend to strip my pc and put it back or whatever. At lease right now I can get on timely. Before it was moving sooo sloooowwww. Congrats StonedImmaculate on getting yours fixed. Again I am so sorry for hi-jacking your thread. Please know that your question has helped me too. | It hasn't happened anymore and we didn't do the strip thing to my pc. But for some reason it quit. I really don't want to say it too loud but so far so good. But it was only heppening with Internet Explorer so I think it was a problem there. If it starts again I am just going to remove IE and put in Firefox. |

| If it's that fucked, you may just have to wipe it and start over.  Maybe try booting in Safe-mode and backing up your stuff on an external HD or burning it to a DVD. What kind of anti-virus/spyware programs are you running?

| Don't mean to hi-jack your thread but I am going through the same thing. My anti-virus is catching some of it but not all of it. So that part is running. I am having to copy all my files to a cd and wipe everything out and start over as Spiral said. This is becoming a pain in the behind right now but gotta do what I gotta do. EDIT: I keep having to go into my Windows Task Manager, Processes and end process on ctfmon.exe. cause it will throw me into other websites I have never seen before.
