| So today Apple released a new line of Macbooks, the first deign change since 2006. I decided to get a MacBook Pro this summer but held off because of rummors of a new one coming out. I think it looks awesome, and the new features and updates are quite nifty. I kind of wish they would have made it a little thinner (only .05 inches thinner than previous model) and maybe an increase in processing power, but still I really like it. Take a look, it would take forever to list it all. Apple - MacBook Pro Apple - MacBook Oh yeah, I bought one a few hours ago. I got the 15" 2.53 GHz Pro, and I can't wait! It should be here by the end of the week! Anyone have any opinions on these new notebooks? |

| The design change is not the first since 2006, it's only the largest, since Apple finally got off their ass and actually upgraded the video and memory. The Pro is only .05 inches thinner, but they made it longer and wider. And they reduced the battery power...probably the most sneaky part of these new models. You wouldn't be seeing any more of an increase in CPU power, since those are Montevina Centrino 2 processors and the best for laptops at this moment. I've become less and less impressed with Apple designs since they started getting supplied by Intel, and now that netbooks with the Silverthorne/Atom core are more available, Apple's place in the computer market seems more hollow. |

| Well it's the first major design change since they replaced the Powerbooks with the Intel's in January of 06. Sure they've refreshed their insides, but no design change. The change from the PowerBook to the MacBook Pro wasn't even that drastic. I think that Apples place in the industry is a little less than hollow. They've increased their market share from less than 4% in 2003 to almost 18% this quarter. With the growing popularity of Apple products I would say that they are only going to grow more. |

| Yeah, I saw this today. I'm in the market for a new laptop and haven't been considering an Apple much, until I saw the new 13 inch Macbook. Man, it looks awesome.... pretty nice specs too. I don't know much about Macs but maybe I should change that. ![]()

As for the new design... AWESOME!!! I love it. So clean and smooth. The entire trackpad being the button is genius. And the unibody design is so cool. Thumbs up from me. =D | |

Seriously Spiral, I hear ya loud and clear. I've been a hard core PC user since '84 and it's only this year, after playing around with my son's (now defunct) HP notebook running Vista ( that bloated piece of crap) that I've considered a change. That came about when he decided to, as a replacement, pick up a MacBook. It's awesome and when it comes time for me to upgrade one of my current PC's I'll think long and hard before continuing on with Microsoft's Vista debacle. Who knows though. Perchance Windows 7 will afford them a turnaround. But that's likely a couple of years away. If I were to make a purchase right now I'd very likely jump ship and go with a MacBook configured so as to also run Windows. Windows XP that is. Why? Because I love the flexibility of the Windows operating system which, as you know, is more or less open source. That's where Steve Jobs, brilliant asshole that he is, screwed the pooch big time - closed architecture. So there it is, my 2 cents on the table... ![]() .

| I've been a mac user my entire life as my mom is a graphic designer and photoshop has always been an amazing graphic editor. Only problem with new macbooks is that the normal macbook don't have a firewire port, which is needed for importing video from most video cameras and for some audio interfaces for people who record music. This was a major issue for the core mac users as mac is now the standard computer for multimedia editing. Luckily Im gonna be getting the new macbook pro which does have a firewire port so this won't be a problem for me ![]() |

| Was a PC user my whole life until I switched over to OSX back in January, haven't looked back since. Personally I don't really like the new design, no mouse button, glossy screen only, and no beveled keyboard. Pretty happy I got my MacBook Pro when I did, as I don't think I would like this one very much.
