After I hit one thousand in my mp3'zz I began to worry that windows XP or media player will send my info to some other people because I have so many songs in it. Do you think I"m being paranoid? can this really happen?

Yes, you are being paranoid and no there isn't anything too worry about. I suggest you download winamp anyways though, its alot better .

Windows Media has always threatened to "take actions against music piracy"
by selectively not playing MP3 files. I don't use it because I think it's a piece
of crap, but last year everyone was worried about windows not liking MP3s.

yeah, windows media player sucks, and i've always thought it was kind of a shady program.... i just don't like the way it's always connecting to the internet and reporting what i'm listening to, call me paranoid if you want hehe

Just use the Quicktime Player. It's small and sits in the corner of your screen. You just double click a song, and off it goes...

i still think winamp is the better way to go.... simple sexy and not a cpu hog.

I downloaded winamp and added all of my mp3'zz to the media library. I played about 4 songs then a pop up came up saying I needed some kind of "rights" to play the song that I always played in windows media player. It said I needed to agree on something to play the song. I just said **** this and took winamp off.

Never happens to me. Microsoft probably has a new WMA protocol with
digital rights management. Get the song in MP3 and it won't be a problem.

Funny, you just proved that Windows Media Player tracks what you listen to.

that happens when you rip a cd using windows media player, it makes it so you can only listen to that song on your wmp and you can't send it to anyone else, i suggest you use a better ripping program like "cdex", google it, its really good
