Whats up? I got an invite to start a gmail account--which I just did...

If you don't know, google.com is launching a web-based email system called "gmail". The cool thing about it is that its not publically available yet (so lots of good names are available), and you get a whole gigabyte of storage so you never have to throw messages away.

Heheh...I feel so special, people are auctioning off their accounts on ebay for 50$...

What name did DaDornta use for "gmail"?...Why, "GDamn1"...heheh I wanted "TheGSpot" but that was already taken...heheh

I'll probably be able to get a few invites in a few days..any hardcore geeks want an account?

Yeah, I felt specal when I got mine too, but then I relized that I don't use email as much as I used to, as most of the people I talk to never sign off aim.

Pretty cool, if you could hook me up with an invite it would be appreciated, I've been to lazy to look for one lol. As my poster says, “hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now”. It sums me up pretty good .

There is no gmail privacy concerns here, people just like to whine. The fact is that only computers are scanning your mail, and that same thing happens everyday with spam filters on other email services. Any email service provider that wants violate their privacy policy can read your email. The people writing all of these articles have yet to voice just what exactly they are complaining about in an intelligent and well thought out argument, there is absolutely nothing to worry about in regards to gmail and privacy.

Gmail sounds all well and good, but they can look at your emails and the such.

Any email provider can look at your email if they want to, goggle is no different. Only computers scan your messages they don't have teams going though them and then inserting ads or anything. And tons of email providers scan your messages anyways for spam filtering.
