HP Pavillion ze5700 haha it's a piece of shit! I'm glad I don't have to use it it'd be broken by now I abuse it so much when I'm on it. It does have Linux now though so it runs nicer on that.

yea, got it a year ago this christmas, pretty nice, but wish I could get a new one with core 2 duo. relatively sturdy, no major problems, and tech support is pretty good. alienwares look sick too.

I got my laptop right before the jump to duo cores too... I was disappointed. I still love my computer tho.

I have a toshiba, have had many toshibas in the past, and would reccommend them to anyone.

Their "System Guard" warrenty is top notch, with local authorized repair depots all over the country, so that you don't have to send off yo'ure computer for weeks to be fixed.

Their prices are competetive, and their computers are highly availbly all over the world.

Stay away from alienware. They have screwed many a laptop user. They are incompetent when it comes to support.

I stated it in a similar thread:

Everyone seems to have a bias against one manufacturer of computers or another, for whatever reason. Mine bias is against Gateway, but I know many people who have owned Gateway machines and are perfectly happy with them.

If you're in the market for a PC or laptop, stick with a name brand that you recognize. Get the most RAM and HDD that you can afford.

Make sure its a good processor too... Ram isnt that usefull without a fast proccessor to follow.

Im definatly a Dell & Toshiba kinda guy... Toshiba's are good for your buck... I like dell for their good service and good product... a little pricy tho.

Yea, I think anytime a person or someone they know has one bad experience with a computer they consider everything the manufacturer makes as crap. I do it too, hated my old dell, probably just because it was cheap. I have used some nice ones of friends though so I am warming to dell.

I think alienware gets some bad rep because their tech support is so transparent, with the support forums and stuff, you see every time something went wrong. I don't know, I have heard some bad things, but I have only had good experiences with their tech, nothing major to fix though. Can't speak for others.
