Last night when I got to my girlfriend's apartment I went to set my bowl on her desk and as I was doing that she told me to look at her because she wanted to get the rain off my glasses. Well, when I looked at her I didn't look where I was putting my bowl and I tipped a whole cup of coffee over on her laptop.

It sizzled and popped last night and we were pretty sure it was dead.

So fastforward to this morning, I've got terrible stomach cramps and I decide to take a one hitter and I sit down at my girlfriend's desk. Just to test I try turning her laptop on and god said, "Let there be POST!" Before my eyes the POST screen flashed followed shortly by the Windows logo. I couldn't believe it.

Has anyone ever had a similar experience or are we just really really lucky?

Yeah.
A lot of times electronics will work just fine when they dry out.
I had a digital watch many, many years ago. I dove into the pool at swim practice with it still on.
Aired it out over a couple days, put in a fresh battery and it was good as new.

I'd say you would only have issues if your coffee had sugar in it...then you would have the real sticky keys.

One time I spilled milk all over my laptop. Worked fine except the keys were a little sticky, but that wore off with time. Another time I accidentally left my phone in my pants when I washed them. It went through a full cycle in the washer and dryer, pulled it out and let it dry and it worked fine.
