Hi, I am trying to hook my TV up to be a secondary monitor for my computer. I have an ATI Radeon x1900 graphics card, and the output turns into those audio video cables. The one with the three cables Video, Audio, and right audio. Sometimes when first booting up I can see the display on the TV but other than that I see only on my monitor and I cannot seem to find a way to fix this. Any suggestions?

| Hm. Asssuming your graphics card supports dual screen support (might want to check, some dont) I have only a few suggestions; 1) Most recent drivers for your gfx 2) Go to display (right click on desktop - properties), you can usually check to have a 2 monitor display (I use to have one, but changed to a big flat screen ). Should work, sometimes you might have to make the computer detect the TV screen (shold do it automatically, I don't know how do it). ![]() What kind of TV is it? If checking dual monitors on your display settings I don't know.

I know the Catalyst software has an option to do a "clone" display. I don't know if you can choose which monitor is your primary monitor with ATi but I know you can do that with Nvidia and sometimes you have to play around with which one is the primary display. I've got mine hooked up to play games and movies. Sometimes it won't work though so I have to dink around with which one is the primary monitor or do a single display rather than a clone. One downside about using video out is that your monitor gets a refresh rate of 60 Hz. I can't stand anything below 75 so I usually just turn on my TV for gaming or movies.

For some reason I thought TV'supported much lower refresh rate than moniters. So I should pump up the refresh rate on the output to the television? Right now I'm sitting in bed token the vaporize, playing GTA on my computer with a wireless mock ps2 remote, writing this from wireless keyboard and mouse. I have it fixed up to the point where I can have one activated at a time, but to switch the screens it takes about a minute or maybe a little less to go through the process, and its just annoying. Is there a way I can install/find or program a macro that will go through that process automatically and then program it into a button on one of my wireless devices?

The refresh rate is really irrelevant unless you plan on leaving your TV and monitor on together all the time. You can't control the refresh rate on the TV but your monitor will look "flickery" when running both at the same time. It annoys me but some people don't notice or don't mind. I don't know about a macro but the closest thing would be right-clicking your desktop -> Catalyst Control (should be at the top of your menu when you right click the desktop) and from there go to something like output settings or display settings...you know the menu where you select your display. Do a twin or clone or whatever it's called and you can use both your monitor and your TV at the same time. That way you won't ever have to switch...if that's what you want.

Try checking Radeon's website for trouble-shooting help. I'm sure they have a 1-800 number you can call as well. Good Apollo
