There's what I like to call a 60/40 notch that makes it pretty clear which way it goes in. There's a notch about 40 or 60 percent of the way (depends on how you're looking at it) through the strip of contacts and you just have to line up that notch with the mobo.

Also check your mobo model, it should be labeled somewhere and the DIMM slots might even be labeled with something like "DDR 400" or "PC 3200." Your RAM might be labeled too so you know what the speed is, otherwise I would assume the RAM is PC 3200.

DDR 400 means the clock speed is 200 Mhz and PC 3200 means 3.2 gig/sec bandwidth. DDR400 and PC3200 are the exact same thing, the titles each specify something different about the RAM though. So in other words PC3200 is compatible with DDR400 and vice versa because they are one in the same.

Look up your mobo if you can find the label otherwise I would just try to find the manual or not risk it at all. I wouldn't put RAM in my computer unless I knew for sure it was the right kind.

Yeah if you put two sticks of RAM in at the same time that are two different speeds it could ruin the RAM/Your Mobo/or just not work.

If I were you I'd just turn off "High" textures in BF2 and revert to "Medium" or "Low" because I think I know why you want to add more RAM. The fucking textures in BF2 don't load when it says "loading." Instead it's trying to put all the textures into memory while you explore the map. It causes a lot of choppy lag that I find is prevented by using lower quality textures.

Hell, medium and high look the exact same most of the time because of mip-mapping (lowering texture quality in the distance...Anisotropic filtering makes distant textures look better...turn it off!) so it's really not worth it to use anything above medium.

RAM is pretty cheap these days, if you want more you can just go buy some, 1 gig is becoming the minimum to run games if you don't have that. Besides gaming, more RAM just makes the whole thing run faster.
