| Ok say I have a game with minimum recquirements of 2.0GHz and I get an Intel Core 2 Duo that's 1.83 GHz. Since it's dual core can I still run the game?

| What's the game? Every Core 2 Duo available now can run any game available. I've yet to see a single Core 2 Duo lag on a game. I know it's possible with games like HL2 if you turn the settings all the way up, but if you just want to enjoy the game at medium-to-good detail levels, you should be safe. Remember, you technically have two 1.83GHz processors doing the work. Just make sure you have a video card that can deal with it, and enough memory. |

PC Gamer does a recommended config for every game they review so if you name the game I can look up the review and tell you what they recommend for smooth performance. For example Battlefield 2142 has a required set up of: P4 1.7 GHz 512MB RAM 128MB DX9 3D Card However PC Gamer recommends at least the following set up to truly enjoy the game: P4 3.0 GHz 2GB RAM 256MB 3D Card So even if that other rig could "run" the game it wouldn't really be enjoyable. Details would literally have to be set as low as possible and it would look like Doom. ![]() | |

| Most recommended configs are for Pentium 4's, it should say with the recommended speed. If it is for a Pentium 4 then you will run it fine, because your processor is much more efficient. I have a Pentium M in my laptop, and even that is way more efficient than Pentium 4's so I can run 2.0ghz games with only a 1.7ghz(I know it's sad) processor quite easily. |

| The old Pentium 4 processors were based on the clunky NetBurst setup. More or less, you can double any C2D processor speed and find out the "equivalent" clock for a P4. Even the weakest C2D outruns every previous P4 and can beat the Athlon FX processors if overclocked a little. |

| You should be fine, especially if you have a solid graphics card. If you do experience some lag just turn down some settings. Happy gaming, Good Apollo |
