| Have you already or do you plan to purchase Windows Vista by the end of the weekend? Just curious. I usually hop right on the bandwagon and make the jump, but I have my doubts this time. I'm not saying it sucks, Mac fanboys. I've used it, I've used the beta and I've use the RTM. It's a pretty cool looking OS, no doubt. It's got some great potential once everyone starts making mods and add-ons for it. And I don't know exactly why, but I'm not too thrilled about Vista. I have a machine that can handle it very well, but for some reason I just can't bring myself to do it yet. I know about driver problems and application support issues, but I've dealt with these same issues during past OS releases and I never really was too bothered by it. Maybe I'm just getting old and don't want to think about it. Anyway... Will you own Vista by the end of this weekend? |

| Il get it but not by the end of this weekend. I can get it today or in 2 years for free anyways so im in no hurry bc xp professional is still serving me well. I to have a machine that can run it more than well BUT just like the ps3 and xbox 360 and all these things, I wait until they fix all the bugs and glitches and then I get it. ![]() |

| Vista friggin sucks. I'll upgrade it in 2 years when M$ forces me to cuz they no longer provide security updates to XP. But in all honesty, there's not enough changes for me to think it's actually a good decision. Maybe if I was more about how my computer looked than how it performed... But this thing could be a white screen with giant block text, if it tells me what i wanna know... That's fine. Basically, the biggest changes have been the appearance, the "advanced security" (a popup, "are you sure you want to change your screensaver?").... Take that, hackers. Never get past my ultimate popup of destructional chaotic fury of doom. And they're making a big deal about the icons... Added crappy parental controls (woo, save $15 with that big improvement), and they changed the search feature and added widgets. Not much else, I'm not excited at all (honestly I had no idea it wasn't even out yet, LoL)... I'll upgrade my main computer when they make me, and I'll probably get the free Ultimate VLK from school and put it on my Toybox. Moving a bunch of crap around so I can't find it, and making it shiny isn't improvement. (opinion) |

| I'll get it for free because of MSDN AA but I won't install it for at least a year. Vista is anti-gaming and I care only about gaming so It's going to be a long time before even a bit of Vista data graces my HD. Gaming on Vista has been benchmarked around 50% as fast as it is on XP. It's a total waste of an upgrade. In fact, I probably won't even upgrade to DX10 for over a year because of how Vista affects gaming performance. At this point I'm really considering going with a Unix-based system just because of how horrible Vista is. God I hate M$... |

| Coming from a person who has taken vista for a test drive, I would recomend against migrating, from my experiance all Vista does is eat up resources (unless they have changed drasticaly from a couple weeks ago when I just said fuck it to windows and fully migrated to linux) not to mention I ran into a lot of compatability issues with games that are pre-vista. Infact I was able to play more games on linux (without setting up a virtual machine). Now I'm not saying you should count Vista out I'm just saying it might pay to wait untill microdick works out some of the kinks. (Also for the record I love my 360 so I don't just hate everything from microdick without giving it a chance)

| I see no reason to jump on the Vista bandwagon right now. i don't NEED it for anything, and chances are, I'll want a new computer before I do. Considering a computer like I'd likely purchase can be had for $800, give or take, shelling out 100 bucks or better for an OS upgrade doesn't make any sense to me. I want a new graphics card, a new monitor, etc.....by the time I add up everything i "want" rght now, it'd be just about as affordable to buy a computer with everything I want included.....until then, my current setup does everything I need it to do and more

| Like every MS OS, it was rushed to market. Gates is again using the public as guinea pigs to find the bugs. It's always best to wait until at least the first service pack is out. |
