| After months of wanting a new comp I have finally bought one. Its an HP desktop that cost $500. It has a 2.8GHz Pentium D 820, has 2GB of PC2-4200 DDR2, 300GB SATA hard drive, and Windows XP Media Center. It will probably be here on Tuesday. I am going to put on my ATI 128MB card and in May I am going to buy a new mobo and PC2-6400 and a better video card. I am going to try to overclock it with the stock motherboard, hopefully it will let me. Pentium D 820's can run stable at 3.8GHz, but I will probly only OC it to about 3.2GHz. I will let you know how it is when it gets here.http://shop3.outpost.com/{Ji6i+awPV9...roduct/5130796 ![]()

| that D in particular is a monster OCer, I was thinking about getting an 820 myself. I'd get a new mobo card 1st after you get a new vid card, or before if the current mobo doesnt have PCI-E. and ifg this is your first experience w/ OCing, I WOULD NOT reccomend you try it without some guidance. I burn out a CPU and mobo that way my first time :P

| Hmm...just plan on sticking with Pentium D processors if you're going to upgrade. I did some homework and found that motherboards of this system don't support the newer Core processors which made D obsolete. The highest one could get on there is a D 960. I'd hate to see you buy one and have to spend at least $30 for restocking. |

| I'd buy a mobo that supports Core 2 Duo and DDR2 800. So in May I get a mobo and memory. And then as soon as I get more money I'll upgrade to a Core 2 Duo. I'll probly get a vid card next week when I buy Oblivion. |

| So it came in the mail today and it is so bomb. I got Dark Messiah Might and Magic. That game has some pretty high requirements so I will see how good it can run it and Im going to get 3DMark06. Man right now I'm running two IE's, doing a Norton Full Scan, registering for Ubisoft, registering for Playline, installing Dark Messiah, and watching music videos. Gotta love dual cores. |
