| At the moment I have a 19in Sharp LCD that I got for free with a mattress. I was looking to upgrade to something bigger, and I can't decide between two that I saw at Costco today... They are both 32in LCD 720p. One is Sharp AQUOS and the other is Vizio, don't know the model. Anyone have opinions on these brands? The Sharp was $700, Vizio was $600. I couldn't tell for sure, but I thought the colors were better on the Vizio. Is AQUOS worth the extra money? |

| I am not a Vizio fan at all. My folks have a few Vizio plasmas and they just arent up to par. Go with a quality brand, the Sharp Aquos is definitely the better of the two, 10 fold.

| Plasma's and LCD's are completely different. Plasmas get screen-burn, where LCD's do not. And, quite honestly, the OP didn't give us enough information. We need a Model, or at least Contrast ratio, Resolution (720p, 1080p/1080i) and size. ![]() |

| Wait a month, the next generation HDTVs are starting to be released this week for about the same price as what's out there now. Samsung, Philips, Sharp and a couple other manufacturers are releasing LCDs with contrast ratios from 8,000:1 to 26,000:1 (that's dynamic contrast ratio, not standard) with some even higher. Really though, if you want to be a smart buyer, wait a few more months. You could get one now, but HD technology, as well as flash memory/processors/etc. will make what you can get now look like a joke by this time next year for the same price or cheaper. For that much money, I would put it off for a little while (I sell electronics btw). |

| Dont base your decision on that statement. It is almost impossible to get a screen burn in with plasmas these days. Ghosting (where an image doesnt move, it leaves an outline where the image was, gone after a couple minutes) is more common in the first couple of weeks, but after use it isnt common at all. They also come with pixel shift now, which is where the pixels move every minute or so, preventing any burn in. |

I deal with Plasma's, LCD's and DLP's all day. I'm the local electronics nerd in a facility where we sell and repair RV's (that come with everything from 19inch to 70 inch of LCD/DLP/Plasma), and trust me when I say you can get ghosting and screen burn from any plasma screen much, much easier than you can from an LCD. I wasn't basing my statement on assumption, I know from first hand experience with a variety of TV's.

If you're going to be doing anything where there might be static images on the screen (TV-Guide channel, Guide-Button for Sat./Cable, Video games, etc) Plasma is probably not a great idea for you - simply because of their hightned propensity to imageburn.
