Something gotta give… I am about ready to machine gun this damn computer/modem and buy a new one. You would think a 3 thousand dollars computer would be able to simply detect a modem or be able to just simply download the driver and then be good to go with the drake set up wizard.

using the network card or the 56k modem? looks like your modem MIGHT be a winmodem, which means windows handles the "translating" and the modem just sends/recieves it... they RARELY work with linux out of the box, and it can be near impossible to get them to work sometimes.

On the other hand, it should be plug n play with the ethernet card. I still can't believe you paid $200 for that...

Damn man, don't mean to be rude but u got ripped off like a prom dress. That's like paying someone to change your oil or your plugs or bang your wife/gf. Next time, ask for help on here or look on some computer tech page.

Computers are sooo easy, anyone could do it. The big thing to remember is, 'YOU CAN DO IT'. The second you think it's too complicated for you, youve already been half beat by the computer. If yoiu can build a lego set, you can fix your computer.

also which linux distro did you choose? and reinstalling an OS is nothing... i had to reinstall slackware 8 like 7 times cuz i would mess around with it so much and had no idea wtf i was doing hehe
