Knoppix is a good test-drive distribution. I wouldn't want to trust it with
anything particularly important, but it's very good for a low-risk look at what
Linux really feels like.

One of its other uses is that it's a very convenient root kit, or tool for
accessing protected systems.

Root kits are useful for purging demons from Windows machines, along with
other (more sinister) projects.
