im thinking about getting a cell phone but theres so many services and types of phones out there im lost

anybody recommend a cell phone service thats cheap and reliable
i heard about that virgin mobile service where you buy minutes or whatever but the minutes seem kinda expensive at 25 cents a minute and 10 cents per text message

any input would be greatly appreciated

Maybe a go phone would be good (most companies have them, check out AT&T Verizon, or even track phone to name a few), that way you can pay as you go without a contract or anything. But the only problem with Go Phones is that you end up paying more money if you use the phone a lot, so if you plan to use it a lot then get a monthly plan. As for what provider, that is really a regional thing and is hard to answer, a good company in one area might not have good coverage in another. Your best bet is too look at the coverage maps, especially if you plan to get a next generation phone I was going to get one of those, but then I looked at the map and a lot of areas weren't going to get service.
