Enter Bit Torrents...

This little program is awesome. It's like a helper program. You go to a website that lists downloads, click and download this tiny little 20k file and then the program opens. Then it connects to people that have more of the file downloaded than you, and people that have completed the download.

You can get really good transfer speeds like this, but the trade-off is that you have to upload what you've downloaded so far to others whille your downloading. Also, the longer you leave your finished download open the more people can get the file--so to be a good 'torrent citizen your supposed to leave them open after they are done.

The advantage to using this system is that you can download entire CD's at once, complete with CD art. Movies, tv shows, games everything. Individual songs aren't usually listed however.

I was surprised to see old TV shows like "quantum leap" were listed...incredible.

I am really liking LimeWire and have no desire to change. I was a believer in Kazaa until I tried LimeWire and it is a lot better. I've tried that thing where you use the internet to search for your stuff. There's been a thread about it, but its name escapes me. I didn't like it too much. LimeWire is cool and it alerts you when a file is corrupted before you finish the download. I've used BitTorrent, but I really like the LimeWire interface and everything about it.

there are alot of nice games but i need the actual bit torrent client because when i click on the files it downloads and doesn't open... and can't seem to find it on that page

Yeah Bittorrent is awesome, but does have its drawbacks. For one you are completely dependent on the people or seeds you are dling off of, so if there are no seeds for the torrent you are trying to dl you wont be going anywhere.
Also the dl speed it totally dependent on whoever you are dling off of, like for one file you can get a 50-60kps dl while on another your highest is going to be 10kps if your lucky.
But drawbacks aside its a awesome program used to dl large files, another thing i love about it is you can basiclly resume it at any time without any incomplete files, like the old audiogalaxy.
And finally, the Bittorrent "network" is virutally indestructable to ppl like the RIAA since there is no centralized server involved to shut down.

i keep getting an error

Problem connecting to tracer - <urlopen error (10061, 'connection refused')>

Whats it mean? hehe, also it doesn't seem to want to go more then 2kbs a sec lol, anyway to make it go faster? I remember i used to use this a long time ago and it used to have bars letting u change download speed to unlimited, but its not there anymore.

I finding it very hard to find the music files in Kazaa, without them being all f*ckt up...Im going to try Limewire...I'll let yeah all know what its like!?

yea limewire is very good, the bit torrents need to go faster, i'm 13 hours into a d/l and at 7%, (only 224 hours left!)

Odd, i average 20-40k min on bt, max i seen was 100k..

Bittorrent is the bomb i always get atleast 150kb/s
only on rare occasions i get less than 100
