I don't download movies, still downloading a movie doesn't seem to be like theft in the common sense of the word, ill just call it copyright violation. Movies often make alot of money in theaters, I don't think movie downloading is going to stop the movie industry. I think if you make a truly good movie (and you can market it well) your still gonna make good money DLing or not. Peace, HN-

So is your local TGI Fridays, whether you chew and screw or whether you pay. However, if I leave there without paying, even though I have paid before and will again, I would (correctly so) be labeled a theif. Why is it that people who steal information (anything downloaded, whether music, movies, or software) insist on calling themselves "customers"? If you both buy products from me AND steal products from me, I will always refer to you as a theif from then on, whether you call yourself a customer or not.

Its not like they are hacking into peoples computers and taking the information. They are taking a clone from somebody whos willing to give them one. If you can clone me without taking anything from me I wouldn't call that theft - Id call that duplicating. Peace, HN-

While I think downloading music, movies, etc IS a form of stealing I don't equate it to normal stealing.

To put it in an example, I think anyone who steals someones money or personal possessions is a piece of scum and should be glad we can't chop of people's hands in this country. They don't deserve anything but punishment. But for the millions downloading pirated media files.. I could still be friends with them and think they are okay people.

The definition of theft relies on the principle that after the theft, the original
owner doesn't have the object of theft any more.

Going by that definition, copying isn't theft. It's just dishonest.

And I'd like to see real evidence that downloading hurts sales, too. I'm not
going to make any statements about that, but I'm interested in whether or not
the MPAA might have a point.

not many "true" dvd rips are around (DvD quality rips)
all the dvd rips you'll find are mpeg2's which arnt as good a quaility as a real dvd. because no one wants to download a 10GB movie

Movies run about 4 gigabytes and suprnova has plenty of them.

yeah mpeg2 and mpeg4's are, and thats what you get, its real good quaility but it is compressed unlike the vob files youll find on a dvd.

you can still burn mpegs to dvd-rs though so its no real big diffrence.

and i'd liketo know how supernova doesnt get shut down when it clearly lets you download copyrighted materials?

if they dont want me to download things like movies and songs they shouldnt have them on the internet at all and until the do not provide me with these things i will continue to download them if it was illegal they should not allow it to be provided but hey here it is so HA i win and plus i dont give a fcuk.
