Default God damn Internet Explorer

Every time i open internet explorer, the home page is changed to some wierd website...and when i change it back, the next time i open it again..the home page is that annoying search site again. Sometimes this site even freezes up my internet and causes it to crash. I ran a spyware thing and deleted all spyware on my comp and its still doing this...

Its spyware alright. What program did you use?

Here's what to do. Get Lavasoft's AdAware, update it, and run it. Get Spybot Search and Destroy, update it, and run it. If the problem is gone, then download SpyWareBlaster, update it, and run it. If the problem isn't gone, find the program HijackThis!, run it, and post the results here.

But most important, stop using IE. Download Firefox. This will never happen again.

BTW, do you download a lot of stuff, or watch a lot of porn online?

yeah im on firefox rite now..but it wasnt working either till now..i dont even think ill bother with all that ill just keep using it. I rarely download anything, aside from music. I didnt kno that looking at porn could put spyware on ur comp...how does it do this, i dont download the porn, jus watch it in the browser. Another question, ill ask here instead of making another post. Does anyone know how to show and choose which programs run at the startup? because i think i have alot of uneeded programs that run due to the spyware and stuff.

Download the HiJackThis! program. It will give you a readout like this, and you can just google anything that looks weird, or that doesn't belong. No matter what you do, even if you never use IE again, you should get rid of the spyware or whatever bots are on your computer, because they could still cause your comp to crash down the line. Plus, you won't have to make the same post next year.

I'll tell ya, it was spyware that brought me to Firefox, which opened up my eyes as to how much good software is out there. Firefox made me jump to Linux dual-booted with Win 2000, and soon enough I dropped Microsoft all together. I've used Mandrake and Slackware linux for a short time each, but SuSe Linux is sooo easy to install, recognized all my hardware, set up my internet connection, and my computer has never crashed, never had any spyware issues, runs faster, and yes, is actually very easy to use once you get used to it. Plus, I get to make fun of Bill Gates without making him richer than he already is.

Sounds like CWS (Cool Web Search) to me. I had this problem earlier, and yeah it's from porn

Start -> Run - Type "msconfig" (w/o the quotes)

That command allows you to see what programs are starting when you boot up, however it usually doesn't fix the problem. You need to download a spyware removal program like Ad-Aware, Hijack This, Spybot S&D, or Spyware Doctor.

I don't have FireFox, I use Internet Explorer still to this day. I also have the SP2 update on my computer, so IE comes with a built-in pop-up blocker; as well, I got rid of Ad-Aware and only use Spyware Doctor. It integrates into the browser as well and asks me before any website wants to run something like ActiveX or if the site is "not worthy" so to speak.

Post your log file using "Hijack This," we can fix it for you. It's no good just to ignore the problem and use Firefox, it's still going to be there.

Oh, and I don't use FF because when it comes to webpages, IE loads faster and can handle things easier than FF ever could *shrug*

OR, you could just continue using firefox, google and run "cwshredder" and be done with the whole thing. I've gotten CWS from using IE (fresh install, hadnt put firefox on yet and wanted my pr0n) so i had to get rid of CWS... CWShredder is the best answer to it (also if you use hijackthis and are not very computer-literate, google for a "hijackthis log file analyzer" or something like that, should find an automated script to help you determine whats good/bad).
