For Music www.oink.me.uk is pretty much indisputably the best out there, average album downloads in 5 minutes because of strict ratio rules. oh and utorrent is good quick and lite.

I hope this isn't considered advertising? I also use uTorrent when BitLord won't connect to the tracker. As far as finding torrents, just go to google and type in "*Insert Band/Album here* torrent" and you should find whatever is out there.
