| alright so i use aol for my browser but apparently it's in some way connected with internet explorer. so anytime i'm able to view a website on aol, i keep getting this internet explorer error message and they pop up every five or so seconds and it's really starting to drive me crazy. i noticed that when my aol browser is ****ed and like i have to restart my comp to get it working again, the error messages stop popping up. so all i want to know is how to turn off this damn browser so these ****ing things go away!!! ![]()

I think that's your problem man. Get FireFox, it's way better, and way more secure than IE or AOL. I use IE for sites like this one, and some others that I know there's no pop-ups or spyware or anything like that on...and use FireFox for anywhere else, or on site's I don't think I can trust. I haven't ever had any problems of it crashing, or errors, or anything like that peace

| The only problem with Firefox (Mozilla) is that you can't play some games in it. Nothing on Candystand works for me, and I get problems with other certain sites. It might have something to do with Javascript... |

| My only problem was that it don't work with packetnews or IRCSpy.com, so I just use IE when using those sites. I know there's a way to fix it so that it does work, but I'm too lazy to do all that. |

I see your point. But, I guess it's not that it's more secure, it just has less vulnerabilities out. I haven't had anywhere near the ammount of spyware or adware like I used to when I used only IE, thats my main reason in using FF. I agree though that IE is faster and cleaner looking...I'd use it all the time if it wasn't for so much AW & SW

| well an answer to the orriginal question...hmm.... you could try taking IE off your computer... 1) control panel 2) add/remove programs 3) on the side of that box click "add/remove windows components" 4) let it load then u will see something that says "internet explorer" and just uncheck it. it uninstalls it from the computer to clear up space. you can play around with some other stuff in there also 5) click next next...let it load...then try your aol browser again its a longshot but all i can think of right now

| I never get spyware/adware. As a recent news story said: 99% of keeping spwyare/adware/virii from your computer is "common sense." That's no joke either. To this day I've never had anti-virus software or anything similar, it's 100% common sense and nothing more. |
