inner,

So we're basically saying the same thing? Nice.

It's hard to run into a true gamer, but every time someone asks for gaming help and you open your mouth, you're right.

Listen to inner.

If you can find a Core 2 Extreme mobo that allows for dual processors then go for it. Otherwise just get a Core 2 Extreme (quad-core of course) (as long as you have $7000) because it's the best CPU you can get.

Plus dual processors aren't that great for gaming. It's great if you want to do a lot of stuff at once but gaming doesn't utilize the power of both processors. The FSB isn't any faster with two CPUs so that bottle neck kind of gets you. As far as my memory serves, the fastest FSB you'll find on a dual processor mobo is about 400 Mhz. The Core 2 Extreme's FSB operates at 1 Ghz which will boost your gaming power much more so than dual processors on a 400 Mhz FSB.

I agree, but just for the record, AMD CPU's have run a 2000MHz HyperTransport(equivalent to FSB) for a long time now. And since NVIDIA has mastered the AMD CPU, I recommended an nForce chipset in my first post.

But just don't think I'm biased towards AMD. I run AMD's. My last Intel was an Intel 486DX2-66. But from what I've seen first hand, the Intel Core 2 Duo is the best processor you can buy right now. AMD FX's are great gaming CPU's, but the Core 2 Duo beats them hands down.

Keep in mind that AMD processors are generally much more affordable than their Intel counterparts.

This is pretty sweet my dad who doesnt know a thing about computers said to me that I shouldnt just get a 'toy computer' that is just for playing games. He says that he wants me to get a better computer that I can do real work on.

He is gonna be helping me out paying for it so basically fuck yeah. I had even started explaining how basically any computer can do just about everything you would need for school/work. Then I realised how stupid I was being and just STFU and agreed.

So basically this has doubled my budget at no cost to me. So now Im looking to spend at the most $2000 now but Im more looking to spend around $1500.

Quick question does the brand of computer matter at all or is it just the sum of the parts?

Brand doesn't matter at all really. There are three major computer companies that brand actually matters for. The performance of the computer will almost always be the same from every company but these three companies specialize in making "perfect case designs" and they'll all overclock your rig for you.

Falcon Northwest offers the best paint jobs of any computer company. You can get prism paint on your rig for an extra $400. I'll let them explain prism paint...

Quote:
"COLOR-SHIFTS" are paints covered with an additive that contains millions of tiny prisms, which reflect underlying colors depending on the angle of light hitting them. In practical terms, this means that as you move around your Exotix, it will change colors! Please see the color-shifting examples in our gallery.

We can provide the exact auto finish of any car, foreign or domestic, ever made! One of the easiest ways to order your Exotix color is just to specify a make, model, year, and color of car you like. For instance, when we asked the painter for "Mitsubishi 3000GT Blue", the response we got was "Would you like the 1999, or the 2000 - and import or domestic model?". So please be as specific as possible. If the car is a current model, emailing us a link to the car manufacturer's color choice page is preferred.

We can identify the color values of any picture you can email us, and mix those exact color values into a custom paint for you. Please keep in mind that due to differences in the way different computer monitors display colors, the actual color values may appear slightly different on your monitor.
Voodoo Computers are known for being very neat and precise. Plus they make the only case that requires no fans so the computer runs silently. All the internal wiring in Voodoo computers is assembled with surgeon-like precision. Plus they use the BTX case which no one else does as far as I know. I think they also have a 3-year warranty that basically ensures you pay nothing if you computer ever breaks.

And Alienware just makes all around good computers. Nothing too special or unique about them. Just a touch better than major competitors.

You'll be able to run any game available at highest settings with that rig. Very good choice indeed
