| My computer is crapping out on me and I need a new gaming desktop. I dont want to spend more than a thousand on it. All I really need it to do is do a decent job playing games. Im just not sure what I should be looking for or what is a good deal. I heard sams has a great return policy like you can return any computer a year after you get it no questions asked. That just sounds to good to be true. |

| If you are talking about Sam's Club, I'm pretty sure that company is owned by Walmart and if so I would highly doubt such a return policy.

CPU: AMD FX(Socket 939's are cheap right now) or Intel Core 2 Duo Video: NVIDIA 79xx or ATI x19xxx(forget about SLI and Cross-fire for the time being, too many issues) If you're gonna go with an AMD CPU, make sure it's using an nForce chipset. I've found that these work best for the AMDs. Everything else you're gonna need will probably be shtuff you already have. The motherboard should have on-board sound, which, contrary to popular opinion, is usually a better option for gaming than a Sound Blaster or Turtle Beach. Oh, also make sure that whatever power supply you end up with is sufficient. Some games can push the hardware to the max and nothing sucks more than a computer that reboots when it's you and one other dude left in a round of CS. So now, you can either build it, which I'd prefer...or you can buy it. You should be able to find a computer with these specs even from the HPs and Dell's of the world. | |

| www.cyberpowerpc.com is the only place I buy computers from. They have sweet computers at cheap prices. I'd get the best videocard and processor you can and go cheap on everything else except a gig of RAM. Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz or 2.1 ghz for the CPU and one of the flavors of the Geforce 7950...or if you can afford it...two 7950s. My computer needs an upgrade or two pretty badly but I have an AGP slot and no PCI-E. I need to get a Core 2 Duo so bad. I found a combo on newegg for $260 for a mobo and the 2.1 ghz Core 2 which is pretty cheap but damn $260 could buy a pretty fat sack. I configured exactly what I recommended to you on Cyberpower's web site and after shipping it was $1,055 without skimping on other parts. If you already have other parts you could save money by removing them from your order (mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc) Quote:

| Aquamarks is a reference number generated by a benchtesting program. It shows you how the overall performangce of the PC are, and is primarily focused on 3D graphics peformance. Cyberpower & IBuypower are the same company. I have never bought anything from them, but the simple fact that they've been around for well over a decade indicates that they sell quality systems.
