| I got a car for Christmas, A 93 Toyota Camry with 60,000 miles from my grandmother. I get my license in March, anyway I need to put a new stereo in it, starting with the head unit(the part in the dash). I'm looking for one where the ipod is plugged in to it and the controls on the head control the ipod. I am looking for one with good sound but not too expensive. It would also need an output for a sub, which I would buy later. But yea, some of the alpines look good, but I'm open to suggestions. The most important part will be how good the ipod controls are, because that is what I would be using most of the time, not cd's. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

I got her a Panasonic CQ-C3303U with a generic iPod adapter. I got a better deal on the iPod adapter, too. ![]() That Panasonic model also has an iPod adapter for a bit more that allows you control from the headunit. The headunit has front & rear pre-amp outs and subwoofer out, as well as a second AUX in (only with compatible Panasonic parts). It's a hell of a deal for the price, considering the built-in features and the expandability. We listened to the iPod with it all the way home... A 9 hour drive. It worked flawlessly.

| Thanks, I'll look into that. So the way you have it now you have to use the ipod to pick a song? I've had some sketchy experiences with friends driving while using an ipod. They tend to not notice cars or trees in front of them, or turns in the road for that matter. Does anyone have any experience with one of the setups where the head controls the ipod. Just want to know if they are easy to use and stuff. |

Also... I just noticed that I linked you to the wrong headunit. Sorry about that. This is the one that I got that has all the features: http://www.cardomain.com/item/PANCQC3333U?vq_id=none It's $10 more, and still a great deal. Figure if you couple that headunit with the iPod interface. CarDomain gives you a free installation kit and wiring harness, plus anything that's specific for your vehicle... That's how I did it, and I had it installed the day after we arrived on our little trip. You can read about how the surprise was ruined in my wedding thread. ![]() | |
