With a new update that happened in the Fall of '06, the xbox 360 now has more abilities with its video. I heard that playing divx and some other type of movies was almost impossible to get to play, or most of the ways to get this to happen were strenuous and almost not worth it.

Well, a new program is out that makes it VERY easy to stream a video straight from your PC to the xbox throo a wireless or wired connection, without having to change it's format beforehand. It took me a lil while to figure out last night, but once you get it set-up, you can add a movie straight to ur xbox within a matter of seconds. This is for people who don't have a Windows Media Center computer, and have something like Service Pack 2, or Vista

1st off. Get WMP 11 if you don't have it. Here

Next, you're going to need a program called TVersity. This program can handle almost any media format, and this is what you're going to use to stream your videos, music and pictures if you want straight to your Xbox.

Now you'll need codecs. For some reason, the codecs that I already have didn't work...but then I found a lot of people were using FFDShow and it worked great.

Once TVersity is installed, make sure it's working. The TV in the lower right corner of your screen will be blue if working, red if disconnected. Once you have established the connection, now it's time to establish the connection from your xbox to your PC.

Attach your xbox to your computer like you regularly would. Next go to the last tab on your xbox dashboard, and if you have a running windows PC connection already showing, disconnect it. TVersity is going to be your new connection.

Go to the media tab, and click on music videos or pictures, and then click on the Computer icon. Click Yes on the next page, and then it will show what computers you have available. You'll see that something like "TVersity on JAKE" now appears as an active computer. If it doesn't show, then some connection is not working, and check if your xbox is hooked up properly and make sure TVersity is still running.

If you have gotten this far, and established the TVersity connection on your xbox360, then the rest is a breeze. Go to the TVersity program and click the green plus sign, in the top left, then add file... Browse for your file, select the one you want (We'll use Clerks 2 for an example), make a Title if you wish and click Submit. If done properly, you should now see Clerks 2 in your Sharing tab.

Immediately after adding your media to your TVersity, it will be able to be displayed on the media tab on your xbox360. Find your way to the videos, click on computer, and then it should show the title "Clerks 2". Bingo.

Then your set. You click on Clerks 2 on your xbox, and within about 5-10 seconds, your video will start! This is the most user-friendly, simple way to stream video to your xbox.

Continue adding any type of media you want to TVersity and it will show on your xbox as long as you keep the connection.

You can also tweak the settings of TVersity if you wish. I would leave it as the default settings if you don't know the info you need though.

Hope this helps any of you 360ers and torrent..ers out there. I just got this for xmas and when I found out I could do that, I was ecstatic.

Don't hesitate to ask questions . I'm no pro on this issue, as I only figured this out yesterday, but I ran into many problems and most were very easy to fix.

Yes, it does. You just need the right codecs. most my videos are .avi and 95% work.

Just what M$ wants you to think. Waste of money, just find a workaround... there's fixes to everything, really.

Microsoft never claimed that having Windows Media Center was the only way to stream videos to it, its just longer and more strenous of course.

I've been watching movies a lot on there since I've done this and I've only ran into 2 movies that I haven't been able to play.
