| Which is best for gaming a Pentium D 2.8 Ghz or Athlon 64 X2 4200? Thanks And are Intel P4 Xeon's any good for gaming? And this computer has two seperate ones. And is having two hard drives with raid 0 make a difference than just one? |

| Okay I am going to list a bunch of specs of computers that are in my price range and can you guys tell me which you would recommend for gaming? And unless the computer has a better video card keep in mind that I will be replacing it with a Nvidia 128MB video card until I can afford DX10. Setup 1. Pentium D 820 2.8 GHz 1024 MB DDR2 533MHz 160 GB SATA 7200RPM with data burst cache Setup 2. Athlon 64 X2 4200 2.2GHz 1GB PC2-4200 200GB SATA 7200RPM Setup 3. | Xeons are designed for floating point computing performance, not gaming. Of the three listed, the second one is the best setup. Which begs the question, where/why are you getting this computer? These setups are pretty random. If there's money to crunch on Xeon cores, even the old ones, you could just go Core 2. |

| The Dual CPU system isn't going to gain you any performance in gaming. Strike that right out. Either 1 or 2 would be more than suffuicient for gaming, when equipped with a quality 3D video card. Personally, I'm partial to AMD. The price/performance ratio is so much better than Intel, although Intel currently makes the fastest CPUs.
