Ok, I did a search and couldn't find the answer I wanted. Can I clear the toolbar on IE without clearing the history? I think it is IE 7. I don't care what is in the history and I actually need some of those sites I found while doing some research. I just don't want this girl I am seeing to type in a letter and see all the websites starting with that letter.

If you go to your history you can right click the site and press delete.

Or, you can go under your options and turn autocomplete off, so it won't bring up the websites when a letter is typed in the address bar

anyway, disable auto complete as tm said, or download firefox and you can set it to delete the history when you quit, but not your bookmarks.

edit: I think ie 8 can do this now too actually, I just think everyone should have firefox.

No the research is legit and I am just too lazy to bookmark so I go through history. That isn't what I was trying to hide. I bought some birthday gifts from Sephora and Neiman Marcus and I didn't want her to see I had been shopping there before her birthday. I removed them from history but they were still was coming up on the toolbar.

I could care less if she sees anything else or I would just wipe out everything.

oh, ok, sorry for assuming. anyway it sounds like your best bet is to turn auto complete off if you haven't yet. should be under internet options somewhere.
