My amazing laptop:
1 800 mhz Pentium III with speed stepping (Coppermine core, clocked at a bazing 860 mhz, thats 60 mhz more!!!)
1 heat sink with fan + my own "custom" ICE cooling unit (One plastic baggy filled with ICE!)
512 mbs of BLAZING FAST SINGLE CHANNEL RAM!!!!
1 CDRW/DVD combo drive, burns cds at x4.0!!!!
1 mousepad with a broken left button!
A 60 gig hard drive filled with more useless hentai porn and buzzed out music than anyone could ever want!!!
1 laptop keyboard thats falling apart, with a broken L key!!! (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.)
A HUGE 19" Viewsonic monitor that I got FREE from RIT!!! (Because my original laptop monitor is busted.)
A decrepit old battery that has only a 30 MINUTE CHARGE!!! (its always plugged in anyway.)
A glitched BIOS that keeps giving me errors if I don't reset it constantly!!! (Gonna party like its 1999. Cause its always 1999...)
Overheating problems so bad my ROOM actually gets hotter by 5 degrees every time my laptop runs!!! (after several hours).
So much spyware and viri that avast finally gave up the ghost!!!
A copy of WinXP so f*ed up it causes the computer to lag when wordpad is opened! (Not to mention my 10 minute boot time.)

Yup, that my son is the greatest computer in the world. But soon I will be upgrading to the big leagues. Here is my PLANNED BUILDSHEET:

That is neither complete nor exhaustive. But I really need a new machine for college. Its a budget machine, but its still faster then this hunk.

Yesterday I ran my old Commie 64 side by side with this guy, the Commie loads up GEOS faster than this guy does WinXP. Talk about sad...

Don't use an IDE hard drive...go with SATA. So much easier to manage.

Also it only looks like you have one ide connection on that motherboard, no point to use it for a HDD since there is minimal if any cost differnce.

Hmm, I feel stupid AND confused. I had every intention of going SATA. Strange to see I picked an IDE by accident. In fact I was worried of having problems with the first and second generation SATA devices, because I wasn't sure at the time what the board was, or something of that regard.

Either way, thanks for pointing this out, I must have made a mistake when I was looking at different drives...

Because I KNOW I wanted a gen 2 SATA drive. I didnt care too much about the cd drive right now. That can wait.

Well, monday mistake, I did compile that list at 3am in the morning many months ago, then saved it to a text file. Thanks again for that, otherwise I probably would have ordered the wrong drive by mistake.

Mine's self-built as well...I haven't upgraded in a while, I really need to...newer games aren't running too good.

ASRock 939Dual-Sata2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU (stock clock)
2GB (4x512) DDR400 RAM (2 sticks of some nice Corsair stuff, 2 sticks generic value RAM...obviously not pushed)
ATI X1800XT 256MB GPU
Creative Xtreme Gamer X-Fi

Running a dual boot with GRUB - I'm primarily using Windows Vista Ultimate with a 10GB partition for Debian that I hardly use (partly because I guess I'm just not that much of a Linux fanboy and partly because there are still no working drivers for my X-Fi).

Hmm, nothing great here, but it works and plays every game I've played on it so far.

Gigabyte mobo
AMD dual core 3800+ processor
2gb of DDR2
450gb of HD
Gigabyte 256mb graphics card (need to upgrade badly)
And I definitely need a nice sound card...

I'm still running on XP, thinking about switching to Vista soon, but we'll see...
