| Something in Windoze is SERIOUSLY hosed. You could try re-applying the latest Service PAck from Microsoft (SP2 if it's WIndoze XP - You didn't specify) If you don't have any recovery disk or Windows CD that came with the system, then you're kinda SOL.

| No. It won't be in the Add/Remove programs. Get it from Micro$oft's website: Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 2 for IT Professionals and Developers |

| Here is a thread you may want to look at Microsoft: Windows XP Pro - DCOM Server Process Launcher Downloading service pack 2 and reinstalling sounds like a good idea as well.

| First of all, e-machines are pieces of crap. They are the Yugos of the pre-built PC market. I'm not trying to bash your PC or anything. The fact is, that E-Machines used the lowest quality bottom-of-the-barrel parts in order to have a low-priced computer. They are more prone to hardware failures, and this could be one. The recovery disk wasn't really necessary, although you'd have to be able to latch on to a copy of Windoze XP, or some other operating system. But when you get it, if you have issues reloading and getting the system back up & running, it's likely some piece of hardware failing. Could be HDD, CPU, RAM, motherboard.. Good luck, man. |
