| I'm trying to remove Outlook express from my comp. It's not in the Add Remove Programs list and when I try to delete the folder itself, it says it's being used by another program. I have no idea what the program that is using it is or how to find it. Anyone got any ideas? BTW I'm using XP, if that makes a difference Thanks. ![]()

| Outlook Express is integrated into Windows. It's not anything that can easily be removed from the system, if at all. You can easily hide the icons for it, though. THAT I can assist you with.

| Yeah Sofaking I had the same problem, it would always open up Outlook Express when I would click on an email link. I just ended up hiding all the icons and doing something to disassociate email links with Outlook Express (basically made them do nothing). I wish I could remember how, but I have Vista currently - so that won't help.

| A question I can anwser. I am a computer programmer. You can remove it, but personally it's not worth the hassle and trouble it would take to remove it. If you want detailed instructions on removing it if thats what you want send me an e-mail and i will send the full instructions. |

| Hey guys, Thanks for the responses. I wasn't wanting to get rid of it forever I just was trying to fix something. I actually use Outlook everyday. Anyway I fixed the problem I was having. NOW, How bout this..... Is there a way to get rid of Windows Messenger or at least have it not start up when Outlook starts? I unclicked the "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger" box but it still comes on whenever i use Outlook. Thanks again. |

| In Europe, Microsoft was taken to court for unfair competition in the web browser application area. It was demanded that they un-integrate Internet Explorer from the operating system so other software companies would have a chance to compete. Microsoft argued that it was impossible to do. I don't remember how (or if) it was decided in the end. I'm a Mac user and I've always tried to avoid using Microsoft products because they do a lot of stuff in the background (changing settings, revealing your personal info to Microsoft) without your expressed permission. I got rid of Office 2001 because it kept screwing up other applications on the machine. I recently installed Office 2008 because I needed to for a project. So far, it hasn't messed anything up. Maybe Microsoft has finally learned to "play well with others".
