I left my PC running on an application functioning at 640 X 480 or 800 X 600 (I forget and can't be fucked with the maths ) resolution. It then went to sleep. When I woke it up again, shut off the application etcetera it visibly remained at 640 X 480 / 800 X 600 resolution, but the display settings are convinced it's running at 1024 X 768. =/

I shut down, restarted and the situation remained the same, the crux of it being that I had to set the display settings to 1280 X 1024 for it to appear at 1024 X 768.

Uh... WTF?

See if the application is running using ctl alt delete and looking for it in the processes. I dont know if that will work, but its an easy thing to check. Its worth a shot.

Have you been smoking around your PC? It's well known that Vista has a low tolerance level. They haven't yet come out with a patch for 'resolution amnesia'.

It wasn't necessary. I'm sure everyone would take a pass.

uninstall your graphics car drivers and reinstall, I bet that will fix it.
