Question whats a good subwoofer?

i currently have a phoenix gold octane R 12" and i am looking to get a new one since it can only take 500 watts, but im just not sure on what the best, i want a lot of bass but also good sound out of it, any help would be appreciated

also Sony Xplod, and kicker would be preferable since i can get them both at discount prices but if theirs a better one out their than im willing to spend the extra hundred or so

thanks Doc Mitch i did end up finding creative sound if thats the one that you were referring to and they do have some nice looking subs, they have some decent prices to on them, wont be to much more than i would pay for a Sony Xplod or Kicker, their SD12 seems to be about what i want but i was wondering if you have any personal experience with this same sub woofer or if anyone else on this forum may have had one

I put a 8" square kicker in my 91 MR2 Turbo last year (needed a small sub.......small car )
I love it very nice sub, very fast response, hits hard and clean.

i was looking at kicker but i still haven't gotten a price quote on one yet, i have however gotten a quote on a sony xplod xs-ld127p5 which is their highest end woven 12" and the 10" model

but im not sure what the difference between woven and a solid cone is, a little help would be nice since i could get it for less than i would pay for most higher end subs after tax and shipping, also it would work perfect since im getting their XM-1S amp and it has the proper power 2 of them

Well I did have a 12" Sony Xplod in my Celica before I got the MR2. People complain about Sony Xplod but I never had an issue. It hit really really hard, and the long drawn out bass beat were very SWEET. Guess it depends on the music you want to listen to.
