So since I'm gettin a job soon I began to think about purchasing a new iPod as my 5th gen is getting out dated. I'm stuck between the sleek sweet touch 32GB for $499.00 or the classic 80 GB is $250. It's tough I wouldn't go lower then 32GB for the touch since my ipod now has 24GB filled with mostly music and is getting very close to being full. The touch without a doubt is very stylish and new but for $250 less I could get 2 1/2 times the storage with the 80 classic which I think is more then enough storage for me to fill it with everything I have and still have lots of room left over. The only reason I'm considering the touch is because I've had some sort of ipod that is basically the same as the classic, mini-4thgen-5thgen and the touch has a superior screen for actually enjoying watching a film/tv on a portable device.

This is just personal preference. Me being the gadget geek I am, Id get that new touch. BUT, I still think its ridiculous, why not just get the phone? Kinda rhetorical, I just dont see the advantage of the touch over the possibly cheaper phone other than storage.

I have Verizon along with my family and close to literately everyone at my school so having AT&T would suck a mean dick. If i could I would get the phone but that's not gonna happen.

If you already have a fifth gen, why bother with a touch or classic before your 5th gen dies?

I was having the same thoughts myself, and I decided to wait for the next touch generation (which will coencide with my sprint contract ending...) and that will, in turn allow me to buy a phone, and go with AT&T, or if I choose not to go with AT&T, I can get the touch then, with more space.

I didn't say this in the other post but i have already owned a classic. I got it mid summer last year and it had gotten stolen in December. So this ipod was purchased more as a filler and the plan was always to get a different one. It was a (big) step back going from that classic to this one but I do not have the cash then to even consider it and I plan on ebaying the 5th gen.

Ah, okay. I get it a bit more.

Personal opinion? Still, wait. I know it's going to kill you, but in a few months the next release cycle should be out, and the battery life should be better, PLUS a larger memory.

However, if you're dead-set on getting an iPod, I'd go for the touch.

I personally don't like ipods.. I bought a sony instead. Anyways, different strokes..

After a lot of thought...I still am undecided. I never really considered the zune since my friends who had the first zunes complained about them constantly but the 80GB Zune is looking nice. Has the big screen, size, batterly life is as good as the classic. I hate to say it but unless the touch price comes down, I really dont think I can bring myself to spend $500 on a electronic device, maybe weed(although I never have), but a MP3 player with only 32GB is a joke. So now I it's down to the Classic and Zune.
