Butane Hash Oil - Things That Go Boom In The Night!

Consider this a public service announcement. I don’t know if I have hammered this point home enough, but if you are not an expert at making butane hash oil (BHO), PUT EVERYTHING DOWN, TURN OFF THE STOVE, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR BUM, AND EXIT THE KITCHEN. Making BHO is a very dangerous thing, and if you slip up in any way, you will no doubt light something on fire, including yourself.

We just had this scenario play out here in Portland this week. Apparently, a guy named Nicholas Broms was trying to make BHO in his condo, when it exploded, burning him and blowing the wall off his condo. “I was actually in the shower and just hanging up my towel and I hear this explosion and all I can think is that a car went off the side here,” explained neighbor Jeffrey Harmon. “Then I heard someone screaming for his life and I come out and see the apartment on fire.” Below is a picture of the aftermath:

I understand that people like BHO, and/or people want to make money. But when rookies do stuff like this, it makes the entire movement look bad, and puts innocent people at risk. If you are going to make BHO, know what you are doing, and if you can, make it somewhere that is surrounded by people. The safety issue with BHO is the flammable vapors from the evaporating butane. If you do the process outdoors and don't light up while doing it, it's fairly safe

if you can, make it somewhere that is surrounded by people.

Why? If something goes wrong, that's more people who would be affected.

I don't know why... but I was not expecting the explosion at the end.

I think I'll just purchase mine from the D's. There is a certain flavor...a texture - a "Je ne sais pas" with some of the better concentrates that I have been lucky to taste (thanks WCC). When done properly they hold the plants terpens, and not just the higher levels of THC... hitting that fat Dab of Paris OG on a hot and hungry nail. Well - it's just like heaven
