Hi, I have a non-regulated pre-employment urine test tomorrow. does anyone know what this consists of? split? i plan on subbing. will they take 45ml 60ml? thanks.

It could be single or split. It all depends on what the employer has arranged with the laboratory.

Single = 30 mL
Split = 45 mL
Split sometimes (rare) = 60 mL.

well, just got back from test. non-regulated pre-employment test. they told me to fill cup halfway (quite a bit) I subbed. temp was a little too hot. blew on specimen in cup till cup thermometer came down. was not watched and able to lock door. tech did call to me once to ask if I was alright. I used the kit from testclear (two kits were used). they split sample and put into two vials. (approx 30ml each) wish me luck! should find out results wed. or thurs. I WILL POST AND LET YOU KNOW

Well, great news, I PASSED the urine test. took tuesday morning. they called with results wed. afternoon. all OK. questions FOR SEC. form was for non-dot test. I think paperwork reads test performed is 181001 DRUG SCREEN: 10 PANEL. RESULTS REVIEW SAID 18400-NDOT W/ALL REVIEW. What do these mean. in future I will subjected to random DOT tests(trucking industry). I guess I will try to sub all the time. its about 15-20 minute ride to lab. should have time to prepare sub. I`m worried about storing urine in hot car. any suggestions? any luck with adulterants? maybe I could go that route? THANKS

Your test was a Non-DOT test. All review means a MRO will review all tests, even the negative ones. (no big deal).

You should have to take another one very soon, a DOT 5-panel test (Pre-employment) prior to performing your safety sensitive position.

SEC, although i`m in trucking industry. i`m only working on refrigerated trailers. CDL license is not required for my position. employer never said anything about another test. there will be random in future if my number comes up. `i`m going today to talk to them to finalize pay, hours, etc. how could I go about asking whether there`s another test coming soon? don`t want to raise suspicion. like I said though, I plan on subbing again for future DOT tests.

also, for the DOT test. will this be observed? when you`re observed, do they directly watch you or stand in room with back to you or maybe at counter next to room with door open? thanks

Observed means that the observer must wath the urine flow from the body into the collection cup. No, unless you give cause, the test won't be observed.

Unless you are performing mechanical duties on the truck and test driving it, then you probably won't be subject to DOT testing. Your employer probably tests 100% of its employees though, with some qualifying for a DOT test and the others given a Non-DOT test as you were.
