Default Passing home tests

Hi all, so I've been reading posts and I really just need some reassurance. I've been taking a home test every week for the past 3 weeks with my first void of the day and have been passing. I quit smoking on 4/7/08 so I've been clean 85 days, but I see on here that some have taken longer to get clean. I actually tested dirty up until week 10. I have a test tomorrow at Quest, just the regular 5/50 gc/ms and I am still freaking out. How reliable are the home tests? I have one more I'm going to take in the morning before I go and I plan on drinking lots of gatorade etc just in case. This test pretty much determines my life so that's why I wanted to quit and do it right. Thanks for any help. and i wish i was like this-

The home tests give you a very accurate indication of whether you can test negative. Your's do.

Don't overdo the fluid intake. 20 ounces within 1-1/2 hours of test time will be PLENTY. You don't want a dilute negative result. You want a negative result.

So I really should have listened to you Sec .....I took my test last week and got the results today....Negative Dilute. I didn't really even think I drank that much...I mean my void wasn't clear...it was actually very light yellow. Plus I've been clean over 90 days so I really don't think I need to drink that much water anyways? So my question is what now? I was able to see my results online, this is for school, so it came with my background check. Are they able to see the exact #'s, like creatinine and specific gravity? If they want me to retest when do you think they would let me know? Also, I don't eat meat could this be a reason my creatinine was low? Can they take the neg dilute as a negative if they want or is it different for every place? Thanks for any help!

They can take a neg. dilute for a negative. Some employers do.

My GUESS is that a school won't re-test a dilute negative due to the added cost. There really isn't the same liability as for employment - you aren't on a payroll or anything.

I would abstain until you hear from those in charge. You might call the head honcho in charge of admissions and ask some bogus question regarding your admissions paperwork or dorms, or meals, or books, or something else. Then, at the end of the conversation, say: "So, we are ready to go? Everything is done then?"

Depending on their response, you will know what your next move should be.

Sorry to hear about the dilute negative, I wish I'd seen this post initially. If you stopped dropping dirty around week ten and have been clean eighty-five days now, that means you had two weeks and two clean drops after your last dirty dropped. Unfortunately, you should have been fine with minimal fluid intake as long as you didn't give your first void of the day. From this point, I would request a retest (do this in person at all possible) Be sincere in appearance, but lie- insist you've never done drugs. tell them you don't know why it was dilute. i'm pretty confident you can argue a "negative dilute" sample to the point where they agree to test you again. Good luck.

I wish I could lie and say I've never done drugs, but long story short, I tested positive 2 years ago at school and got kicked out. I'm finally brave enough to show my face since this is the last year I can go back w/out starting all over again. I'm actually very lucky they are letting me back in. That's why I quit and didn't sub or anything like that. They actually instituted a drug testing policy on everyone because of me. It was awful. So if they want me to retest I will. I have no problem with that. I just hope it doesn't look to shady, because of before. I truly miss smoking but this is more important to me and I can't chance it, especially since the dean reminded me I am subject to randoms now because of my past. I actually have to call the dean tomorrow about another piece of paperwork, some I'm assuming she will tell me then if I need to retest or not.

Thanks again for your guy's help!

When the Dean calls you, DO NOT be the first one to bring up the diluted result. If they are going to accept the results as a negative, then it is best if no one mentions the word diluted.

If the Dean mentions the diluted result:
If they want you to re-take it, offer to take it immediately. Right now. Don't act suprised or try to fake ignorance. Be honest. Tell her you were nervous about taking it because you really want to make a fresh start and want soooo much to finish school. Be SINCERE. Then follow up.

Be the MODEL student. If your Dean offers an olive branch to you by allowing you to re-test after your history, DO NOT make her regret her decision. Be grateful, but do not grovel. You know what I am saying? You want to be open and honest, but no so much that she gets the impression you are just kissing ass.

You don't get to be a Dean of Schools by being a bad judge of character. She will see right through any lie you plan to tell. Just be honest. I hear that you really want to do good this year in these sentences:

Get your life on track so you can live your adult years independent, self supporting, confident and free of trouble.

( Oh yea, next time.... LISTEN TO ME!!! )

Good luck.

I WILL definitely listen to you next time Sec!! I do appreciate all the kind words and support. Thank you very much. I truly am very lucky they are letting me back in and won't F this up for the world. I called them today about the other piece of paperwork and they didn't mention the result so I didn't mention it. I'm going to assume they will take it as is. But I guarantee she is going to test me sometime. So I will continue to be off the smoke bus for now, but that's ok. I'll just have everyone I know take a puff for me .

Thanks again for all your help and support...I do appreciate it!
