so i took a pre-employment drug test at a quest on tuesday afternoon (it is now thursday evening). i had been clean for 93 days prior to that, 6'3", 185 lbs, was definitely clean cause i had been passing home tests for well over a months at that point. i haven't heard anything but thats expected as they don't call you to tell you congratulations on passing when your doing pre-employment testing, i think.

do you think it is time i get high? or do you think i should continue to wait for whatever reason? what would you do in my situation?

yikes. how badly do you want the job? was the test a 50ng cutoff or 20ng cutoff? home tests are 50 ng cutoff.

if it was me, i wouldn't smoke. as much as i miss it, i can't stand the stress. and i NEED a job soon.

have you heard from the job about a start date or anything since the test? if you haven't heard from the job yet, i'd hold off.

you asked what i'd do.

it was a 50 ng/ml test i believe...it was the 640 5N SAP 5-50 GC/MS.

I want the job incredibly badly..it would be the best thing that has ever happened to me since getting into college.

I have not heard from the job yet since the test. I already had a start date of the 14th of this month previous to taking the test. i guess i'll just wait till around next monday/tuesday because by then they would have called me to tell me i was diluted or failed...right?

haha I feel your pain! I did my pre-employment test last week and its my first job straight out of college! Waiting is the worst but luckily I heard back from them last night - got a formal offer letter via email. And I was too high to read or realise what was going on.

But my adivce as everyone has told you, abstain till you get your results (although i didnt do it, but thats cause I knew I had a very good chance of passing). A job for college students is very important as it is the start of our careers. So think about he bigger picture!

but what happens if you never get told your results...on what day would you assume its go time. remember, i peed in the cup on tuesday...should i wait till monday night, tuesday night, wednesday night?

It might take up until next Wednesday or Thursday for an MRO to call. The Holiday has messed up everyone's time frames. Courier services aren't running on Friday, and some don't have Saturday delivery, so some tests taken on Thursday afternoon might not get to the Lab until at least Monday or Tuesday. Then they need to be tested and if non-negative, they need to be confirmed which could take 3-5 additional days.

You took your test on Tuesday, so I would think the employer had the results (If negative) on Thursday at the latest. However, if there was a delay in shipping or the test needs to be confirmed at the lab, it could take until the middle of next week.
Even if the employer had access to the results today, that doesn't mean they actually retrieved the results today. They might wait until Monday or Tuesday to open the mail, read the fax, email or go online to get results.

Bottom line: Wait. Waiting can do no harm, not waiting when you should have, can lead to many regrets.

sec, i feel you on the waiting advice. but what if you recently contacted the hr person and she told you all your paperwork was in. then would you consider lighting up. she didn't say your drug test is in, but she said she has all the paperwork she needs. i'm just ancy as hell, and i figure there's really no way i failed, and there's is no way it was dilute...i think it might be time to get high...opinions, anyone? should i continue the 100 day drought?
