hi all. i'm wondering if any of you nice folks are licensed healthcare providers. if so, have you ever failed a drug test for a current employer (annual test), obviously been terminated immediately and then have the company turn you in to the licensing board? i appreciate any input. i'm probably being paranoid, can't imagine a big corporation wants to deal with that. but you never know.

What you are asking is possible, but not probable. I am a licensed healthcare provider, but my 'employer' doesn't drug test. If they did, I doubt they would take the time to turn me in to the State. (I don't use pot, but if I did, and failed a test...)

thanks sec. i thought just failing the test/being terminated for "cause" was stressful. HA! the thought of losing my license/profession is just eating me up. i just hope the company is not "spiteful" and has better things to do with their time than worry about a former employee (who, prior to failing an annual drug test) made them a large amount of money and did a great job, but decided to smoke some weed. apparently it didn't affect my job performance is part of my point. i know it's rationalization on my part. thanks again, sec.

Was this annual test a random test? Or was it with your annual physical? Next year I will be a licensed healthcare provider and am really wondering if anybody smokes on the regular in hospitals, etc. Obviously smoking after work and days off ![]()

dnbsnob420: the drug test was an annual req'd by my employer each year. at the time, i was working for a large medical staffing company. i've been working for over 10 years now, not in hospitals, i've never met anyone i thought would be cool about smoking weed.

yep, i had 30 days prior notice. i've never failed a drug test before. i'd passed my test for this company the year prior & had been smoking much more at the time. i guess i've been smoking much higher quality this past year.....who knows. i just didn't prepare at all & like i said, was a total idiot about it this year. no worries, it actually turned out to be a real blessing in disguise to get out of the job i was at. i've got many prospects coming my way & am sure i'll have another job soon. i've decided to just quit smoking altogether for a good, long while. the stress is too much for me. i love my work & smoking isn't that impt to me. i do miss it, but not as much as i'd miss my work.
