I took a urinalysis pre-employment test yesterday. I could not be more frustrated with myself because I already self tested and know I'm clean (it's been 30 days since last smoked). However, just to be on the safe side, I drank about 32-35 ounces of water about 1.5 hours before the test (drank it all at once). My urine was pretty clear looking when I took the test. As soon as I saw it, I thought: "oh shit, what the hell did I do that for?" Now in retrospect, I'm worried I may get a diluted result. Its going to be an anxiety filled weekend!

My creatinine level was 259 when I self tested. I'm about 5 foot 10, 175 pounds. Do you think 32-35 ounces of water would be enough to lower my creatinine levels (or whatever factors may be measured) to give me a diluted result? Someone please tell me I'm just being paranoid!

Well, there is no sense in worrying now. What is done is done.

It is a lot of water, but you don't say if you drank anything prior or not.

How did you get an accurate creatinine number like that using a home kit? 259 is pretty high. It indicates you might have been a bit dehydrated when you tested. about 80 - 140 is normal.

diluted is anything less than 20

Thanks. I took a test from one of our local medical clinics anonomously (which they let people do for $55). They gave me a toxicology report that shows my creatinine, urine PH (and the results of course).

As for yesterday's test, I drank a 20 ounce sport drink container full of water on the way to the clinic (about 1/2 hour drive). Then drank an aquafina bottle of water when I arrived which I think was 12 ounces. I had to wait for 1.5 hours in their waiting room before I got tested. I had to pee about an hour into the wait (which was a long pee). I then drank a couple dixie cups full of water after peeing (about a 1/2 hour before the actual test), which may have been 4 or so ounces each.

So I guess that puts my total up to a potential 40 ounces of water: 32 oz 1.5 hours before and 8 oz 1/2 before, with one void about 1/2 hour before. As I said, my urine looked pretty damn clear.

Does this help in giving a more educated guess as to my chances?

Not really. You probably will be fine, but it is a crap shoot at best. Like I said earlier, why worry. Worrying won't change the results. Put it out of your mind.
