Hello all. I took my UA one week ago, and I haven't heard anything back from my prospective employer or an MRO. Several people in my circle tell me that "no news is good news" because MROs usually call in 72 hours for positives, but I'm still paranoid as hell. I was a chronic mid-grade/schwag smoker for 10 years, 6'2, 27 Male, 225 lbs, medium metabolism, quit for 14 days and used the dillution sticky found here for my test. I passed 2 home tests, neither using the first void, and both with a faint line. I know it's not a good idea to call my employer and ask if I passed, but I'm supposed to start in 2 weeks. I'm in a position to where I can keep my current job because nobody has applied to replace me...yet. I just want to know something - one way or the other. Sec or anyone with lab experience, what is the maximum wait time I can expect? I know today will have been the fifth BUSINESS day (I didn't count the day I took it because I understand that if I took my test last Monday, it didn't get to the lab until Tuesday) when 5 p.m. comes around.

Its usually 3 business days. I would call human resources and ask them if there is any more paperwork they need or something. Don't ask about the drug test. If it came up positive they will probably tell you then.

No, it takes a MINIMUM of 3 business days. If the lab needs to confirm, it could take up to a week. I would say you would be relatively safe if after tomorrow you don't hear from the MRO. KillerWeed420 is right about one thing tho... Call the employer and be up front. Tell the prospective employer that you would like to give as mich notice as possible to your current employer and want to be sure that you will start work on the (whatever date). Ask the HR person to confirm the start date so you feel comfortable breaking ties with your current employer. Dont' specifically mention the drug test. The new HR should respect you for your consideration to your current employer.

Thanks for the advice KillerWeed and Sec. I emailed the lady who would be my direct supervisor, asking if there was anything else I needed to do, mentioned coming to that city later in the week to look for housing, etc. (Knew better than to mention UA) She said they were eagerly anticipating my first day, gave me a start date, and said I would have orientation with HR my first week. (I am a bit nervous that they'll spring another on me then, but they are really short on staff, so why hire a new guy to fire him immediately?) Other than that, she said nothing else needed to be done. She also invited me to stop by the office and meet the staff when I am in town to look for housing. It seems like everything is on the up-and-up, and if it's true, I owe my life to those of you who helped me out; with special thx to Sec, N2 and all the rest of us unfairly persecuted stoners!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
