Thanks N2. BTW, every digital thermometer I've seen (at longs) beeps. Do you know of any that don't? Check this out, wizzed in a cup and put a thermometer in it immediately. The temp was only 93. That's got to be a mistake...a crappy thermometer...right?

i got a test tomorrow and am going to bring in a digital food thermometer, i got it at safeway, cheap but i tested it by putting it in urine right after i peed and it ready out at 97.5, i also tested the calibration by putting it in ice water because if you do this with any thermometer to check its accuracy, it should read 32 or close to and it was close enough(.7 from 32) this one has a small on and off switch and doesnt beep at all! good luck to you and me!

Thanks Highfly. I will heed your advice. Let me now how the subbing went and how you kept the wiz warm.

I just practiced the subbing/warming method and want your feedback (especially yours N2...our resident expert!). Okay, I wizzed in a cup and using a food thermometer (non-digital) it read 93 degrees (more about the thermometer in a bit). I poured the wizz in a shampoo bottle (1.5 oz) and stuck it my crotch. To keep it warm I wore two tidy whities, one sweat short, two boxers, and black jeans. I then went about my day for the next 2 hours. Two hours later I poured the wizz back in the same cup and bingo! 93-94 degrees. I'm pretty confident that I warmed the wizz properly. What are your thoughts? However, I am perplexed as to why the thermometer didn't read 97-98 degrees. Keep in mind that even when I wizzed right away, it read 93. The odd thing was when I used a digital thermometer, it also read about 93.5 degrees. Can I assume that thermometers is screwed up? I'm having a hard time getting a legit thermometer. The digital ones at longs beep and the food thermometers I found at Albertsons and Safeway aren't digital. Anyway, write back soon! I find out if I get the job by weeks' end and will test soon thereafter. Thanks!

To start, it would indeed be rare for urine that is less than 2 minutes out of ones body to only be 93 degrees, although my experments indicate it can cool as much as 1 degree every 30 seconds if blown on. Even rare'r for your sample to remain at that temp properly crotched with all the layers of insulation you described. Having said that, it is also curious that 2 thermoters read the same 93 temp. But along those lines, I once accused a vendor that their delivery container only held 53ml. I used 12cc/ml syringe to measure 60ml into a measuring cup. The 2 devices confirmed each other, six 10ml syringe loads made exactly 2oz/60ml in the measuring cup, only to find out with a third device, and actual DOT collection cup, that my syringe AND measuring cup were equally off. Next item, a 1.5oz bottle will not hold the 60ml of urine many test require. 1.5oz = 45ml. 2oz = 60ml Last, get a human fever thermometer. Yes, they beep. So what. You won't be using it in the collection room to check the temp with. Thats what the temp strip on the side of the collection cup is for. N2

N2, I was spacing out...thinking I'd need to bring the therm into the test room. (Hence, was afraid of the beeping.) Oddly, I tried a human digital thermometer as well and got 93 degrees or so. Either I'm doing something wrong or using a cheapo thermometer. Perhaps it was b/c there was too little urine. Anyway, I'll use a 2.5 oz bottle next-go round. Lastly, re the crotching method, are you basically saying that the temp should have been higher? In other words, did I take the right approach at least?

N2 & Co, I figured out why I was getting consistently low temperature readings on my urine samples--I let the tip of the thermometer rest at the bottom of the cup. Once I elevated the tip to the middle of the sample, I got a normal reading of 97.7. Keep my silly oversight in mind, the next time someone encounters lower-than-expected temperature readings for recent voids.

Attn: N2 Being an everyday smoker and given 3 days notice for a pre-employment drug screen I knew there was no possible way of passing using my own urine. So I came on here to look into substitution methods and found N2's post to be quite helpful, however I came up with a much easier and comfortable way of beating the test. I bought a 4 oz bottle of elmers glue (not the washable kind) and rinsed it out and then put my friends' clean 12 hour old pee in the bottle. Then I took a tube sock and cut off the toe and cut around where the ankle is. The idea is to slide this open ended sock onto your arm and slide it up to your shoulder/armpit area, you can then place the glue bottle (any bottle of the appropriate size will work) on the inside of the sock so that it is held in your armpit, this will maintain a sample temperature of about 93-95 degrees. Right as I was leaving to take the test I warmed up the urine using warm water from the sink and used a thermometer to make sure the temperature was not to hot or to cool and then stuck the bottle in my armpit. If you get it right you can not see the bottle through your shirt, due to paranoia I doubled up and put on a collared shirt over my t-shirt. Voila, showed up to my drug screen went in the bathroom, put the warm piss into the sample cup and peed my own pee into the toilet. Passed with flying colors! Note however that this is only ideal for pre-employment drug screens or other enviroments in which you are not being observed. Good luck to all at beating the system!

Absolute, 12 hours old, at room temp? The 8 hour rule I post is from urine vendors, so it may be good for longer, but in my experments, even at 8 hours, the smell is getting RANK!!. At any rate, thanks for the post and :!) N2
