Just thought I would share my story here. I am 188lb 5'11 early 40's and a regular daily intaker with a relatively sedentary lifestyle. I was in process of quitting smoking cigarettes, using a nicotine replacement lozenge all day that required me to spit out most of my saliva avoiding swallowing when possible for 3 weeks prior to my test. This led me my body to into a pretty dehydrated state.

63 days since last intake of any sort made me think I had absolutely nothing to be concerned about for my upcoming test for a new job. I had previously tested at 30 days taking no special precautions and passed several times.

On the day of the first test I drank several glasses of juice to try to allow myself to pee on command (maybe 8), but did not void prior to leaving for the test and it was becoming late in the day and I needed to test before the facility closed. I went waiting in the parkinglot prior to walking in, drinking a 16oz soda as my final push to void. I then walked in and gave them the first void of the day, very yellow. Again thinking 63 days was plenty of time.

The results came back 2 days later (2 days for results is a bad sign) with a positive reading. I made some phone calls to get more information to the testing facility and handling agency and finally was told that I tested positive at 42ng which is below the 50ng cutoff, but the screen was positive and they sent it to the lab for confirmation. The confirmation test was at 15ng and because I was over that, the result was Positive. A binary result.

The contracting company I was applying with allowed me to test again and overnighted the paperwork to me for testing the next day. This gave me ~24 hours to prepare. I bought 2 test kits for home. That morning I immediately used the first kit on my first void to see what it would say, and it came up Positive ! This confirmed the lab results and left me in shock.

I bought Creatine suppliments and Vitamin B complex, and took both immediately, the creatine being the more important. I then ate 3 double whopper cheeseburgers to put my body into storage mode and over the next 24 hours drank 2 64oz bottles of Gatorade and 3 glasses of water, voiding as often as I needed to. The morning after on test day I took 4 asperin, 1 Vitamin B complex, 2 16oz glasses of water and finished what gatorade was left (about 30 oz). I voided 3 times in the morning.

3 hours before I would test again I took 3 Tums, 1 Vitamin B and 2 asperin along with 1 16oz Gatorade, drinking it slowly. I immediately tested again at home to see where I stood. I passed the home test. I took a Pepsi with me in the car 1 hour later to take the test at the facility. Voiding 1 time again prior to getting in the car. I arrived and was able to void on command with a slightly yellow colored sample.

Less then 24 hours later I was called with results and it was a pass. Non-dilute.

The Moral of the Story -> Dehydration and giving the first test of the day are a very bad mix if you are a regular user, even after 63 days. Rehydrating does not require you to over-do-it and the methods detailed by N2 are sound. Thanks.
