Here goes:

I am 32 years old, 5'10" 185 lbs. (Now I am 175 lbs.)

I am a truck driver for The Motion Picture industry and I was out on dissability for the last year and I need to go back to work because the dissability has run out. I need to do the return to work drug test where they test for the 5 bad drugs including thc. I dont really know what the cutoff levels are that they use all I know is that they collect the pee and put it into 2 containes and then I never see it again. So if anyone here knows what levels they are looking for that would be great. I dont know if they test for 50ng or one of the stricter lab test that look for smaller amounts.


Sept. 10th was the first time in my life I ever smoked weed. (to control nausea from Oxycontin that I was prescribed, nothing else worked, i was vomiting all day every day so I gave weed a try; it worked) I went through $20.00 of really strong weed from 9/10/08 - 9/24/08. I would take 1 hit about 3-4 times a day during this time. After the 9/24/08 I bought weed 3 more times from 3 different people over the next 3 weekends but it was horrible. It was nothing like the first batch and it did not help with the nausea. I would buy it on a Saturday and try to get high a few times over the weekend till Monday, it would not work and did not even really make me feel high; nothing like that first batch. I would get frustrated and toss it in the trash only to try again the next Saturday. I was not smoking anything during the week. This went on for 3 weekends ending on the 18th of Oct. Each time I Tried to get high and it did not really work. At the most I felt a little weird in the head but nothing like the first batch and it was doing nothing to help my stomach no matter how many hits I took.

The 18th of Oct. was the last batch and that stuff was horrid, it burned my throat and no matter how many hits I took it did nothing but make me sicker; I threw that shit out and have not touched anything since.

It has been 55 days from the 2 week long stint on the strong stuff and 31 days from the last time I tried the really weak stuff that did not work.

In this 31 days time I have lost 10-11 lbs. 186-175lbs. The first week off the weed I went crazy with detox stuff and exorcise. I drank a qcarbo (not knowing that that really only works the day of the test.) Did a detox7 week long detox kit. I drank massive amounts of water and cranberry juice. I walked 2 miles a day and was riding my stationary bike for 45 miles a day (this went on for 4 days until i messed up my foot from doing to much and needed to get a shot in my foot to fix it) I have been taking fat burning herbs and gree tea pills daily and I also have been taking fiber pills. I am not drinking nearly as much water as before, maybe 40-50 ounces a day but I still drink diet soda and crystal light too.

I recently started a part time gig at night with a friend to help make ends meet until I can get back to my normal job. I work 3-4 nights a week and have to walk about 5-6 miles each night. I have stayed pretty active over the last few weeks trying to burn this out of me as fast as I can.

When I hurt my foot the Dr. gave my naproxin (i think thats the way to spell it), I read somewhere that this might be able to cause a false positive. Is that true, if so how long before my test should I stop taking that, just a few days? I dont need any reason for this test to come back positive.

My wife and a few others think I am worrying way to much and they are all convinced I would be 100% clean no matter what kind of lab test I was given but they have not read some of the horror stories that I have read in fourms about people testing positive on home test with a 50ng cutoff after having 35,45,60 and one story I found the guy had 100+ days clean and was still positive. I am sure that some of these people were way overweight and smoked 10 times as much as I did for years on end but these stories still have me really freaked out. Remember, I never in my life smoked weed before or after what I have listed above.

Generally when people take more then 30 days to clean up are those who have smoked daily (and heavy) over a period of years. THC builds up in body fat. You haven't smoked enough to have a build up with 30 days clean time. I would have to agree with wife and others....you are worrying way too much for NOTHING. Go pay the $15-20 at local pharmacy and take the test with your FIRST urine of the morning. I will almost bet the farm that you are clean.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did a home test one week into the 31 days with first pee of the day and I saw a faint line. Keep in mind that I was taking the detox7 7 day kit so I was not sure if that would affect the test. I was also drinking boat loads of water at this time but I did not do the home test until the first pee in the morning. I also used the first part of my pee steam. That was 3 weeks ago. I have been really active ever sense then, taking the fat burning and green tea pills and the fiber pills too.

Other than worrying about the naproxin maybe giving me a false positive (I dont know and still need some advice on this) I think I should be fine. I have been so stressed this whole month, I have been driving myself crazy. I am trying not to think about it but its really hard.

Reading through a bunch of the post here I noticed the the (I think woman) SEC is the go to expert here. I would love her thoughts on my situation and also her thoughts on the Naproxin if she knows. Thanks guys.

Oh yeah, At the time I was really pissed at the 3 people that sold me the garbage the last 3 times but now I could kiss them. I am almost sure that the last bunch of the 3 was not even really weed. I have never been so happy about getting ripped off in my life. The 3 jerks probably saved me another month of detox time.

One thing about the lines on a drug test is that the THC line is ALWAYS lighter then any other line. It just happens. Even artificial urine test line is light.

I figured that. I would bet that that is done just to make you question the results and make you go out to buy another. My wife said that the pregnancy test are the same. She worked at an OBGYN for a while and she said the most women will take an average of 5 home test before going to the DR. because of these faint lines.

I am pretty sure it is a standard DOT test for pre employment I just wish I knew how they work. I know that they split the pee into 2 bottles and then send it off but I don't know what levels they test for, if they do a 50ng dip test or if they go for the full blown lab test thet checks for the much lower levels. This is whats driving me crazy. If I knew exactly what they were going to do I would not be so worried. I am almost positive I would be cool if they do a pre screen 50ng dip test but I dont know if that is what they do or If they just go for the full blown Gas (what ever its called) lab test right off te bat. From my history do you think I would have no problem at all passing the much more sensivite lab test if they chose to just do that one.

You have made me feel a little better. Thank you. I was going to put this off until Jan but if I can pass this now I might be able to get a few good days of work on a tv show before the hollidays and that would help so much. I just need to be carefull because if I fail I get suspended for a year and that would destroy my family. I might wait until this monday and try a new at home test and see what it says but I still have that gray area because I dont know what test I am going to be getting.

Don't fret about the split thing. One part will be test first. As long as it is under 50ng, the rest is tossed out. If not, it goes on the gms testing which is a lower cutoff (15 or 20ng). Yours has NO chance of getting the second test. Chill....

Under the DOT regulations, a 5 panel 50 ng Immunoassay screen is performed first. If the sample tests negative on the initial screen, the testing is over as "pass". If the sample tests non-negative, it then undergoes the GC/MS test for confirmation. The GC/MS cutoff is 15 ng.
