I didn't know where else to ask. I won't disclose much info, but only that my superiors at work (big big big corporation, I have officer position) get high on marijuana all the time. There are no random drug tests and no pre-employment ones either. They do have some incident policy but I never heard of anyone ever taking a drug test for the company.

When I get invited to chill with my superiors (some are CEOs...)...its kind of like going out and playing golf. They want to get to know you better as a person and then bla bla...you know the bureaucratic world! If I deny smoking weed with them I feel like I am disrespecting them but if I do it with them - am I not setting myself up for a trap?

How do I go about this situation?

IF you are smoking pot with the CEO (there is only one CEO in a company I think), then you probably have nothing to worry about. Why would your supervisors set up someone only to turn on them later? They already outrank you, you are no threat to them.
Your company performs no pre-employment or random testing and according to you, their post-accident or for-cause test clause in their policy is for show only and has never been used.

Why are you worried?

I wouldn't be worried. If the CEOs are getting stoned, they're obviously okay with it to an extent. I'm sure if they're driven enough to get to the top of the ladder though, they respect fun in moderation. Just don't screw up on the job because you're too high to work productively, or you might get replaced.

if they are lighting up and ask if you want a hit or two? I would say go for it, it seems unlikely that they would be trying to set you up, unless they have some sort of hidden agenda, but again that is unlikely. And, if you light up with them, it might make you an even closer employee of theirs possibly giving you special priviliges or bonuses...?

I have gotten weed for my VP before. Until he was fired for getting caught with off topics. He didn't take anyone else down with him either. He left graciously.

The only way smoking with the bosses could bite you is if they instituted a sudden random testing program that they were exempt from and you weren't.

In the US, it's typically one CEO to a company or corp. In other countries, they sometimes have more than one.
