I'm pretty new to weed (about 6 months) and I got a drug test coming up in about 2 months. Quick question: As a heavyweight smoker (6'2", 250 pounds, not all muscle) would I have to detox for longer periods of time to ensure a negative test? From my understanding, THC is fat-soluble and I have plenty of it, so would I necessarily have to go the extra distance to be safe?

From my understanding THC likes to hang around in fat for longer periods of time. This results in people who have alot of body fat to take longer to get rid of the THC in their body.

i think the quality of the weed will also impact how long it takes for your body to be rid of the THC metabolites. in summer '07 i weighed about 122 lbs. i had been a daily smoker (low-mid grade hydro) for at least a year or 2 & had a drug test which i didn't prepare for. somehow i passed that one no problem. one year later i had gained maybe 7 pounds b/c i got super lazy, after smoking high grade hydro daily it took me over a month to pass a home test with my 1st void of the day. sadly, this was after i failed my annual drug test which i did not prepare for b/c i didn't think anyone really tested for MJ, esp after passing the test one year prior. i also take adderall & that showed up on 1st drug test so i know they really did the test, the mro called me about it. SO, yes, with additional body fat it may take more time than someone with a higher metabollism to get the THC out of your body. i am sure the fact that you have only been smoking for 6 months puts some points in your favor, but someone with more experience will have to comment on that. you could always take this opportunity to step away from the weed, visit your physician to be sure you can start working out and hit the gym. the only way for your body to rid itself of THC metabolites is thru fat burning exercise and with time. i think you have enough time before your test if you do fat burning cardio/exercise regularly. also, your heart and body will thank you for it! in the end, after your test, you will get super high all over again and it'll be like the first time!!! good luck!

you've got two months? man, if you just stopped smoking until then, you'd be fine. drink lots of water and get some exercise. two months is plenty of time to clean up without needing any kind of detox.

Not at all true. It took 59 days for me to pee clean at 175 pounds, no body fat to speak of, and a super fast metabolism. I have known people that peed dirty more than 90 days after taking their last toke, this due to having excess body fat. There is no way for the OP to 100% assure he is clean without buying a test strip or two and testing himself before his real test. If the OP knows he isn't going to be observed, I would highly suggest continuing to do as he damn well pleases when he is off the clock and just substitute.

Its not all uncommon for a longtime daily user to take 50-60 days to get clean. The longest Ive seen reported was 105 days, for an individual that was considerably overweight, used daily in LARGE amounts, and engaged in zero physical activity. Cleanout times vary from user to user. Thats why its important to home test yourself to see where you actually stand.
