I read through every post in the Substitution thread and used the Search tool as well, but had no luck finding a case where a clean sample was a little shy of the 2oz minimum and wondered if I could add a little water to fill the bottle. I've passed several tests using N2's dilution method, but decided to take the lovely and talented knotme66 and Sec's advice and go with substitution (now that I know the drill). Anybody think there'd be a problem topping off my sample with a few drops of tap water?

I dont think a "few drops" is adequate enough for a true top-off. Before topping off, how do you know for sure that the sub sample youre using is not at, or near borderline dilute? Most collection facilities, following proper protocol, secure all water sources inside the bathroom to prevent tampering anyway. Last edited by lew scannon : 02-03-2009 at 01:38 PM.

Hey Lew! Thanks for responding. What I've got is probably 1.5 oz of 100% clean urine (from my daughter the nurse). It's a mid-day void, dark yellow in color, but no way to know for sure how diluted it might be, I'm afraid.

That's cool. I'm going to run up and get a home test now, as my test will likely be this afternoon. If it's good, then I wonder if adding 15-20% tap would show as a diluted sample?

Test it again after topping, and find out for sure. | |

Hey lew... Got lucky and had enough to fill the 2 oz bottle after all. Thanks for your help anyway!
