Question Quickie question about dilution and dieting...

I have had much success in the past with passing using the dilution method (thanks N2) but I've got a question about my current diet and my upcoming test.

I am a chronic smoker, basically every day. Up until recently, I had a very slow metabolism because (big surprise) I'm lazy and don't exercise. I quit smoking altogether 9 days ago due to losing my job (laid off) and I need to find another one asap. I got an offer, I have a drug test on Wednesday or Thursday of this week (waiting for the paperwork.)

For the past 10 days, I've been on a low carb diet (no comments please - it's dr. recommended.) Thus, I have been eating higher fat foods and tons of protein BUT I'm also flushing fat like there's no tomorrow AND I was working out every day.... but I stopped 5 days ago in preparation for the drug test I knew was coming. Do I need to change my diet and add carbs back in so I don't lose more weight over the next 48 hours? Or am I ok to continue as-is? I am concerned about the idea of "fat flushing" right before the test!

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

You need to get some test kits from a chain drugstore and check the first urination of the day to know where you stand.

But if you haven't had good results from dilution, I strongly suggest you consider substitution to pass this important test.

Default Dilution DOES work, just not sure about my current diet...

I have had great luck with dilution *knock on wood* in the past, it is clearly the ONLY way I have passed any tests. I am just not sure if I should be changing my diet or not in the days leading up to the test... but I have anyway just in case. I can lose those few pounds again after the test. I should be getting the paperwork later today, I'm going to wait until tomorrow to take the test so by then it will be 11 days since I smoked any bud, but 10 days since I had resin (lol). Let's hope for the best. If I don't get this job I am so screwed.

Hi xbongwaterx,

Are you in ketosis from your diet? Getting to ketosis is often the goal of low carb diets (i.e. the atkins diet). Ketones are a byproduct of lipid (fat) metabolism. If they are present in your urine, it is evidence that you are still "flushing fat". You can buy a product called ketostix at your local pharmacy that will test your urine for these molecules.

But.. since you don't have much time (and those damn ketostix can be expensive), I recommend that you load up on carbs (and fat and protein... enjoy) to get into fat storage mode. Then do a practice dilution run, followed by a home test. If that test comes back positive, you may want to substitute with clean urine or a synthetic.

Thank you. I was thinking this exact same thing (yes, I was in ketosis and I do have Ketostix...but I started to think about it... and realized I should knock it off for a few days!) As of yesterday, I was no longer in ketosis and I failed a home test however, I am going to try to dilute today and take another home test to see what happens. It's been nice eating French fries again, though I appreciate you confirming this for me, at least I know I was on the right track. I can't sub at this point, so I really need to just work on diluting today. It's been 11 full days of no smoking....

Mmmm... french fries! I haven't been able to eat those since my LAP-Band surgery. Enjoy them extra for me.
