I just got my order of Formula 5.7 - Batch f11s-08 QuickFix.

I'd like to get some practice in but I don't want to waste the actual product.

I was thinking of pouring it out of the bottle somewhere else and practice with [what substance]? Then pour the QuickFix back in.

I want to get it down pat. Technically, I bought two so I'm covered.. but still.

What should my emphasis be on? Is there something I can substitute (no pun intended) to practice?

The stickied guide is very helpful..

Also, why exactly can't you flush the toilet before you give the sample? Do they need to see some pee in the toilet or what? Am I going to have to empty my bottle in the cup and crossfade to my piss hittin the bowl water?

Ok so I tried pouring it out and using regular water. stuck it in the microwave for 10 secs at a time (its an old microwave). No reading whatsoever (its just black) on the temp. strip. Few more times. Still NOTHING AT ALL. Eventually, the bottle just blew. Still no reading although the plastic is hot to the touch.

What am I doing wrong?

Thankfully I poured out the quickfix into a cup so I can put it another bottle and I bought another quickfix when I ordered so I'm good. Just need to get this down.

Edit: In the twenty minutes it took for me to walk from kitchen to LR, type up this post and roll somethin.. the strip had faint blue circles in it (did I DRASTICALLY overshoot the temp?).. then I added some more water, sealed the hole (this will be the bottle I use for practice seeing as how I ruined it) and 94 got a green box underneath it. Taped it one pair of tight briefs and another pair on top of that. Sittin, typing this in jeans, we'll see how it goes.

I take it this strip isn't instant?

If the temp strip remains black after 10 seconds in the mic, and the bottle is obviously hot to the touch, then the temp is over 100F. Let the bottle cool down until a bold green box appears on the strip.

The QF should be left in the bottle. The QF can be heated and reheated over and over, making it great for practice drills, and not necessary to practice with water.

dont want to overcomplicate matters, but leave the cap on or take it off when heating? Probably doesnt matter but cant fuck this up, you know?

When heating in the mic, leave the cap "cracked" just enough to relieve any pressure buildup during heating. Be sure to retighten the cap before crotching.

Personally, I find the flip-squirt cap too cumbersome. I find it more easier to just unscrew the plain cap and pour. Its also quieter too.

also, I seen varied answers. Any suggestion on wheter to leave the regular screw cap on and just take it off in the facility bathroom or should definately switch to the squeeze cap? Is it noisy?

i practiced a lot with water before i actually went to give my QF sample.

This was because I was actually pouring into the sample cup and measuring temp and pouring back in the bottle over and over again. Even with careful pouring, I was losing some of the sample each time I practiced, so to me, water was better.

what i had when i practiced was.... a childs temp strip (about $2-$3 at Walgreens) my QF bottle, & a travel shampoo bottle (about $1 at Walgreens). My home thc tests came with little plastic sample cups, so I used those.

I didn't have to use the microwave for the water. The tap water is way hot enough. When it was too hot, the strip on the bottle was black and all you gotta do is add a little cold water til the temp gets where it can read it. I would get it at 100 degrees and stash it, then go about some daily duties and check it every half hour. Then I would do the entire "practice substitution" stunt in the bathroom. Shut the door, quietly get out my sub, and pour it in the cup. Get out the temp strip.... satisfaction as it was still reading 97 degrees after being poured in the cup. Stash everything back. After a little practice, I knew I was going to be able to do this at the lab! I figured out where I was stashing it, it was going to keep its temp all day...but the men have a different story to tell. Thats why practice is important. Figure out how long from house to actually turning in the sample is going to take and practice keeping it warm that long. You may have to use one of those hunter's heating packs. I know a lot of guys here are able to keep the temp without using one of those... you will know by practicing.

When actually using the synthetic, pop the bottle in the microwave for 10 seconds. It is recommended that you take off the cap. If the strip is black on the bottle, test it with your childs temp strip, as it registers to at least 104. You will see the color change and move to the right rapidly, so you'll know if its over 104. (your first clue is that it went from 96 to 104 to black).

I experimented with that squirt cap. It was great til you needed the 2nd squirt... meaning it needed air to expel the rest of its contents. That made a horrible noise. Now at the lab bathroom I was in, the fan came on when he turned on the light and shut the door and this would not have been a problem. It was much easier (and quieter) to unscrew the plain cap.

i came home from the interview today.. i'll know by friday if I have it.

Decided to do some cleaning.. so I actually considered the first order of QF the "ruined" batch so I said fuck it, I'm going to practice with this. I'll just empty it into a regular cap, use it as a backup JUST IN CASE this job falls through and if worst comes to worst, just overnight another order.

I've had it crotched for half an hour now.. are my inner thighs really at 90-100F my entire life? Shit.. I DO NOT feel this heat.... I think I picked the right spot according to N2s guide. I feel its presence but I'm able to do anything.. besides well.. I sit on the edge of the seat so I don't crush the bottle. I'm going to look like a newb driver on my way to Quest.

THe idea about the flip squirt is valid. Thanks. I was worried about that. This was the reason for asking about having to pee in the toilet or not? A quick rush of liquid into the cup won't sound like me peeing in the toilet.. what exactly do they expect to hear?

So about a hour and ten minutes later I practiced "subbing". Emptied it into a wide, short cup. I had some leakage, but this is the blown bottle wrapped in duck tape so that could have been it. Plus I was using the flip-top.

I forgot to test it before emptying it, but put in a digital thermometer into the cup right afterwards. It jumped to 93 or so and then slowly climbed to about 94.8 and settled.

I'm slightly worried its not closer to "body temp" but from what I've been reading I'm just overly anxious.

Going to test again after retaping the bottle and using a regular cap.

And my only pair of tighties to dry.. hahahahah


Edit: tried again, this time sat around for longer. I pretended I was doing it quitely, ie don't try to rip the tape off and make sound; so I didn't get a good look at the temp strip but it looked around 98. Poured it into a cup (that I just washed out). Therm in, read 91.7. Slightly concerning?
