Long story, will keep as succinct as possible. Hope it helps someone out there, as this site saved my ass!!!!

First- 40-year-old, 5'10", 135Lbs, smoke weed daily for many years, but usually just a joint or even half a joint after work these last few years. High metabolism, tobacco smoker, moderate drinker (mostly beer, some rum, etc...). Otherwise fairly healthy, although I do not work-out/ exercise (although I walk alot).

Accepted new job last September here in Canada with a large US-based company. No DT test required to get job, but first client I dealt with was a huge US-based corporation. When sent out to client I'm informed we all must have a D&A test in order to get on client's site. At the time I had no idea about sub or any other method of cheating & I was far away from home staying in a hotel with no knowledge of my surroundings (ie. head shops, etc...). Took test & a week later results say I failed. My boss tells me "my job isn't in jeopardy", but I had to sign a waiver acknowledging I took a controlled substance & would willingly submit to my company's random DT policy for one year (US-based company, does do DT-ing in US locations, not generally in Canadian offices, as this is not normal practice in Canada).

In mid-December, still on job at client (not allowed on-site, but am still working on the job from a distance), my big boss tells me he needs me to take a DT of my own accord (ie. you pay for it, pass it, he gives results to client so I can get on site. I have just come back from a trip home, so had weed in my system, I felt certain. But while home had visited a head shop & purchased StatFlush Detox, at recommendation of store clerk. Followed instructions to the letter, had been clean for well over the three days the product recommends (8 full days to be exact). Well, I take test, again this is a private test- my own money, so results come to me, no one else. Results come back & I was dilute. Fortunately, the way the results are depicted on the sheet the lab faxed me I was able to alter the dilution part, so it looked like I passed- whew! I emphasize that I did not drink any more water than the EXACT amount in the StatFlush instructions- not a drop more, but I still got the dilute result!

Life goes on until late February when my boss tells me I've been selected for a random DT. Fortunately I have several days warning as request came on a Thursday afternoon, HR couldn't get me a appointment at the lab until mid the next week. I start studying this site in earnest & decide my only viable option would be substitution. Here's what I did;

-Two nights before test, get a clean sample from my bro-in-law. I did not refrigerate the sample, just left it in the sealed jar I gave him to pee in.
-Purchased some had warmers
-Purchased a temp strip (the only one I could find were at the pet shop- the ones for aquariums- these did not work, so don't bother trying.
-Purchased travel-size plastic shampoo bottle & cleaned it well with hot water & dish soap.
-Practiced my method using water instead of urine, including placing the sample in crotch & walking around all day to ensure it was comfortable & didn't slip.

Morning of test, pour sub into shampoo bottle, wrap with two hand warmers using elastics. Place sample in glove box & drive to test lab (one hour drive). Check sample- it is very hot, probably too hot to be acceptable. Remove hand warmers, place sample between anus & balls with two pairs of tighty-whities & one pair of long undies (the expensive, really tight ones you buy at sporting goods stores- meant for skiers, snowboarders & other serious winter sport types) & head into lab. Register & wait ten minutes to be called in. BTW, I am incredibly nervous, but am doing my all to stay calm &, most important, look calm. Shown into the can where the toilet has the blue stuff in it, as well as the sink. Told to do my thing, but not flush or use sink. Remove sub from crotch, sit on toilet & take a genuine pee in bowl while I pour my sample into the provided cup. By this time the sub was a perfect feeling temperature & the temp strip on the lab cup confirms it's in the zone (97-100). Shampoo bottle back in crotch, out to nurse, hand over sample, fill in the chain-of-custody paperwork with the nurse & away I go.

I passed the test. I was very scared/ nervous, etc... but stayed as calm as I could & followed all the instruction I could find on this site. I will probably have to do at least one more test between now & October (I signed a waiver, as you'll recall), but I now know how to sub. It worked like a charm.

So, thanks to everyone who's ever posted on this site. To anyone coming here worried about an upcoming test, just relax, do some studying here &, if I can give two pieces of advice- PRACTICE & STAY CALM. You will be fine if you follow advice regarding substitution. Finally, my experience shows what many on this site already know- none of the potions you buy at head shops or over the net will work. Unless you have lots of time for cleaning yourself out, substitution is the way to go.
