| So i used quick fix and my boss told me it came back not human? I am not sure what that means but he said Quest Labs said that is was bright in color, no smell, no foam when shook, and no uric acid. I did not think they tested for uric acid and the color was fine. He fired me on the spot. He said no retake and no treatment program. WTF?!!! They did not say i failed for drugs but i did not even know what to say. I know urine does not always smell, and that girls pee does not foam like guys pee and that the color was just fine. When did they start testing for uric acid? Or was he just lying?! This is stupid! |

| The dangers of using synthetic urine...Unfortunately, if the testers have suspicion that the sample isn't human (even though, legally, they can't reject it merely based on smell or color), they can test for other things (like uric acid, cortisol, etc.) that distinguish synthetic urine from the real stuff. Using syns is a risky business, and in your case, you got screwed. Nothing you can really do about it but start job hunting. Sorry and good luck. ![]() |

The word of 2 first time posters aside... synthetic is only risky if you get the temp wrong. EOS

The temp was 96 when the lab tech noted it, and I shook it up before pouring it in the test cup. No bubbles or anything though. Should I be worried? Last edited by danwholikespie : 05-09-2009 at 04:21 AM.

| Is this true?? Obviously I'd see this the nite before my test. Anyone - Sec, Lew, others - can you confirm or deny that they test for uric acid in the 5-Panel? I don't think so but I'd love to be sure....Freaking out now... ![]() Last edited by Crimp Norman : 05-08-2009 at 04:28 AM. Reason: point of question |

For starters, color is not too much of a concern to the labs as long as its not some foreign color thats not supposed to be present in normal human urine ( ie, blue, purple, etc) . A lack of odor is not a concern since this can be exhibited in some human samples. Samples that exhibit no foam are not a concern. What raises the red flags are samples that exhibit excessive foaming when shaken. Cortisol and uric acid is not tested in a urine sample. There are no standards established nor cutoff levels established. So how can a sample pass/fail this when there are no established cutoff levels to go by? ![]() Your boss screwed you on this one.

| I never notice bubbles. Sometimes I accidently drop the bag with the urine specimens in it, and there are bubbles in the urine when I inspect for damage, but that is it. lew was correct. The collection facility had a suspicion, called the employer, who trapped you into admitting wrongdoing. He accused you of substituting and you didn't deny it. ![]() |
